INTRO

It's almost here... the game has been made at a record pace recently. The main quest is all done and technically the game is playable... just need to throw in the sidequests. All that will be left is to beta test for errors... a handful of betas will go out.

Creators: UndyingNephalim and Cosmic Revenues

Progress: FINISHED

Link to download: http://www.zeldadungeon.net/FG.php
Alternate link (the first one has some issues for most people oddly): http://www.sendspace.com/file/nmkv5t

Release date: January 11th
Gameplay: Turn based RPG. I've always been fascinated with the idea of nintendo making a turn based rpg out of the Zelda franchise, but it seems they never will so I descided to make one myself. In addition to Link you will gain 9 other characters (some original, some from other zelda games) to join your party as you venture through Hyrule and it's neighboring countries. Battle's are simple but effective, much like the first few Final Fantasys. Dungeons in the style of the original zelda games are present, though most of the game is story driven so dungeons are ususally several hours apart.

Features:

- A 30 hour main quest
- over 20 hours of sidequests
- 10 characters all tied in a deep and intricate plot.
- currently over hundreds of weapons and armors (the amount is still growing)
- 4 different endings triggered by Link's interactions with the four main female characters
- turn based battles that focus heavily on exploiting enemy weakness. Not all bosses are simply foes with tons of hp.
-A vast overworld that stretches far beyond Hyrule's bounds. Nearly a dozen different countries to visit including Ordon, Lanayru Province, and the Gohma homelands of the Misery Mire.
-Unlockable extras including secret dungeons, alternate outfits, and more

General Story: Not in the official timeline. Best placed 150 years after Oot (approx 50 years after TP)

The Goddesses created seven Sages to watch over the holy relic; the Triforce. Of these Sages were Mapheaus, the Sage of Fire; Malkobagia, Sage of Water; Kovaloo, the Sage of Spirits; Evaleen, the Sage of Shadow; Demoko, the Sage of Time; Solarisin, the Sage of Light; and Sulkaris, the Sage of the Forest. Sulkaris became corrupt and attempted to steal the Triforce for herself, and was banished from the Sacred Realm for eternity to wander the mortal realm as an etheral spirit. However Sulkaris possessed a giant beast, a massive Gohma that controlled all other Gohma like an ant hive. She briefly unleashed the Gohma onto Hyrule and its neighboring countries and devestated them. The current Sages caught wiff of this distaster, and used their powers to seal away Sulkaris. The current Emerald Sage vowed to watch over the imprisoned Sulkaris for all eternity.

The first seven Sages from left to right: Demoko; Sage of Time (diamond), Evaleen; Sage of Shadows (Amethyst), Sulkaris; Sage of Forests (Emerald), Maphaeus; Sage of Fire (Ruby), Malkorbagia; Sage of Water (Sapphire), Kovaloo; Sage of Spirits (Amber), and Solarisin; Sage of Light (Pearl)

Centuries later... Link is walking alone through a forest when suddenly his shadowy avatar Dark Link appears from the forests and attacks him. Link awakens to find himself in someone's house. He soon meets the girl who found him, Liyer (an original character). She says his body was dragged for miles to the outer gates of Hyrule's Capital. In return for her saving Link, he promises to help Liyer sneak into Hyrule Castle and recover a personal trincket that a guard confiscated from her. The player then wanders through Hyrule's Capital and questions various people about finding a way into the castle. Eventually it is discovered there is a passage in the Temple of Time, so the player heads there to find it. Once inside a Zora priest by the name of Zaleen (also an original character) prompty tells Link and Liyer to leave once the passage is mentioned. Eventually the player finds another route into the castle. Much to Liyer's surprise Hyrule's top generals as well as Zelda and the King of Hyrule are gathing together. Link and Liyer then end up getting caught by guards, and interrogated by Zelda (I always wanted to see a darker side to Zelda, and she's quite mean in this scene). Link and Liyer eventually escape and retieve Liyer's trinket, only to stumble upon the conference of generals. Link and Liyer listen in on the heated discussion. General Akazoo, one of the King's most trusted men has information claiming that the Gohma are moblizing on Hyrule's weastern borders. General Kazakk, the highest ranking general disagrees and says it is impossible to fight the Gohma after the losses Hyrule sustained in the Gerudo Wars. Zelda interferes and says Akazoo has good intentions but Hyrule simply does not have enough troops. Akazoo instucts everyone in the room to follow him to a balcony. They look over, only to see hundreds of thousands of soldiers soluting them (it took a long time to animate them all.... a very long time). The King of Hyrule is impressed, and openly declares war on the Gohma.

Meanwhile Link and Liyer continue their escape, only to be intercepted by Zelda and her Elite guards. The played defeats them and escape from Zelda, taking a secret passage that leads to thee Temple of Time. It's too late however, as soldiers are already in wait and asking Zaleen questions regarding them. Upon their approach Zaleen is blamed for their escape and the troops then attempt to arrest the three. Suddenly the temple's lights dim, and a figure appears and destroyes the troops...

The rest of this section will tell a general overveiw of the rest of the game, I'll try to keep spoliers low but its best that you do not read the rest of the story if you dont want the story blow before you play.

Evaleen, the Sage of Shadow appears before Link, Liyer, and Zaleen; killing the Hylian troops attempting to arrest the three. Evaleen offers the three to help her murder the king of Hyrule.... simply out of the question yes? A fight ensues... and Evaleen is apparently killed by the player in the fight. Things seem all fine and dandy now, and Link, Liyer and Zaleen go their separate ways.

By this time Hyrule's army is marching out of the capital, but unfortunately General Akazoo unleashes a swarm of Gohma he was sheltering into the Capital, and he kills the King and captures Zelda. The city is attacked, and Link is chased down until he meets up with Zaleen and Liyer. The three fight their way out of the doomed city. The player travels along until at one point Zaleen is captured by Hyrule's army. Link will meet with a mysterious man named Salfoss, who says that its best if they retreat into the Kokiri Forest to avoid Akazoo. Liyer rejects the idea and descides to go in search of Zaleen. At this point the player chooses whether to go along and help Liyer or to go with Linkto the Kokiri Forest. Both result in different story arcs, though both can be played in any order. On Link's path he will meet up with Daurina, the Ruby Sage as well as Saria, the central figure to the plot. On Liyer's path she will meet with Annara, a rouge bounty hunter from Ordon and General Kazakk, leader of the Hylian Army. The two groups eventually meet up and fight Akazoo for the first time.

Afterwards the group descides to find out what exactly Akazoo is planning, and Link will travel to several dungeons in search of information. Along the way Link will accidentally free Sulkaris, the Fallen Sage, who will later replace Akazoo as the main villian. Once Link finds out Akazoo's plan: to use a device called the Heart of Palagard to transform into a god of the Gohma... he and his band of heros brings the fight to Akazoo's doorstep. The player fights their way through Akazoo's twisted reconstruction of Hyurle, confronting a revived Evaleen and slaying her again. At the top, Link confronts Akazoo in a frenzied fight and eventually slays him. Before Akazoo dies, he opens up a portal into the Sacred Realm... Sulkaris is free to enter...

Link confronts the Fallen Sage for the first time and tries to save Saria, but the Fallen Sage becomes alive again, slowly feeding off of Saria's flesh. Link eventually strilkes Sulkaris down, but the Fallen Sage touches the Triforce in the nick of time and wishes the Sacred Realm be destroyed. Saria, with her last breath saves Link and his group... she apparently is left trapped in the Sacred Realm as it collapses on itself.

At this point one year passes and everyone goes their separate ways. It seems Hyrule will slowly rebuild itself and everything will be fine....

One year later the player resumes contril of Link. He's wandering through the Gerudo desert when our mystery man Salfoss comes out of nowehere... Dark Link soon to follow. After chasing away Dark Link, Salfoss reveals himself as Mido. He claims he once knew Link's ancestor and was Saria's guardian. Looks like he failed to protect her? Not exaclty...

Mido tells Link that he created Dark Link as part of a huge convaluted plot to find Saria. He claims he knew everything that would happen to this point, including the Fallen Sage. Now Mido says he knows a way to bring Saria back from the Sacred Realm... Link of course goes with the flow. Link then travels with Mido and the rest of the characters as they meet up with him in search of three Triforce shards that can re-open the Sacred Realm. Mido says that the Sacred Realm was not destoryed, and that with the shards he can go inside and rescue Saria. After several more tedious dungeons later... Link finds the final triforce shard... only to be confronted by our favorite doppelganer Dark Link. The shadow takes the shards with himto the Temple of Time and apparently kills Mido in the process. Link and company chase down the shadow and fight him in the Temple of Time... but Dark Link of course opens up the portal to the Sacred Realm and enters. Link follows in, and finds himself in the Temple of Light. After working your way through the Temple, Link confronts Dark Link for one last time. Dark Link is defeated... and Link eventually opens up a passage to Saria and rescues her.

Zelda and Kazakk meet up with Link in the Temple of Light, and tell him and his allies that the Gohma are preparing one final all out assault on the remnants of Hyrule. After returning to Hyurle's base of operations, the plan is laid out clearly... Kazakk will lead Hyrule's army staright to the Gohma's homeland and lure out their army while Link, Zelda, and several other members will sneak into the hive and kill the Gohma's leader: the Immanis.

That night a dance is held before the war begins. Link chooses one of the females to dance with. During the dance however... Sulkaris shows up from nowehere and caues chaos. Seems like she survived.... but in a sevearly weakend form. She possesses poor little Saria, and the Emerald Sage is morphed into a hidious plant-like montrosity. Against his will Link must fight Saria as she ramapages on a slaughter. Link eventually strikes her down, but before he can stop her Sulkaris kills Saria herself. Link in rage.... seems to finally kill off Sulkaris for good....

Morning dawns, and Hyrule's army marches out. Link and Zelda travel to a port where they board a ship to the Gohma homelands in the Misery Mire. They sneak into the Hive and wander down the massive final dungeon. At the end they meet their goal... the massive beast of legend... the Gohma Immanis. An epic fight begins with the massive creature in what appears to be a predicatable final boss fight. After the long battle Link and his gang slay the massive beast, and it falls down dead into the deapth of its pit. All seems well now... and it appears the Gohma will die off. Not so.

As sweet victory and the end of the game seems to have come, Mido dashes out from the darkness to warn Link of something. Before he can utter his warning... Sulkaris, and Saria in her grip appear floating above the dead Immanis. Seems Sulkaris still is not dead...

Sulkaris finally reveals her backup plan... she's going to do what Akazoo was planning... become the god of the Gohma. Unfortunately for Sulkaris however... she prematurely uses the Heart of Palagard and only transforms into a premature version of the Gohma God. It seems now the real final boss is Sulkaris, and a ridiculously long 2-part fight with the Fallen Sage commences. After the insane dual... Sulkaris is finally killed (seriously... she's dead now)

All seems well now... Saria is alive and well and finally admits her feelings for Link. Though he cares for her, he does not return her love. When all seems good... Saria finally cracks. The innocent child turns violent, and begins to threaten Liyer for stealing Link from her. Saria's adorable demeanor quickly warps into that of a raging brat... and like a littlespoiled child she unleashes her anger. She loses controlf of her powers and is overrun with anger. She is transformed into a giant crystaline emerald beast.... the real final boss os revealed. Link and his group engage the new Saria in an hour long dual of epic proportions... When the final blow is delivered to Saria the game abruptly ends with an open ended conclusion....

Be sure to wait until after the ending credits... it will be well worth your time

SCREENSHOTS ARE OUTDATED. THE GAME HAS GONE THROUGH MAJOR GRAPHIC UPDATES. These Beta graphics will be replaced by new ones shortly

Link

"He is the incarnation of the heros past, nothing else is told of his existence other then legend..."
Race: Hylian
Age: 18
Class: Fighter
Weapon: Swords
Bio: Virtually nothing is known of Link at this point. Only Daurina and Saria are aware that he is a descendant of the Hero of Time.

Skills
1. Cross Cut - Slashes vertically and then horizontally. A very basic attack
2. Faint Attack - a powerful bash that has a chance to stun his enemies
3. Swordspin - Link's traditonal swordspin. Does lots of damage and has a chance to stun
4. Spiral Blade - Link's Ultimate Skill. A chain of swordspins followed by a poweful horizontal slash.

Secret Skill: Whirlwind attack - unleashes a huge series of swordspins on all enemies.

Character Analysis: Link is a balanced fighter with good combat potential. On the scale of stats is he 0 from which the other characters are measured. His Hp is average, and once he's leveled up his strength is also above average. Since Link can only learn spells through sidequests his magic potential is not as good as Saria or Felonius. Since he is used for almost the whole game he is perfect to level up.

Liyer (lee-uhr)

"She is a free spirit, young and arrogant... yet smart and wise, she is at conflict with herself and the world..."
Race: Hylian
Age: 18
Class: Fringer
Weapon: Daggers
Bio: Liyer is a notorious young girl often seen stalking through the Capital of Hyrule. She is often seen in fights with various criminals, though she has run into many problems with Hyrule's soldiers as well. She has mastered her own fighting style with various types of daggers and knives. She meets up with Link at the start of the game after she finds his dying body outside the Capital of Hyrule's gates.

Skills
1. Poison Edge - A powerful swip coated in venom. Damages enemy hp every turn if it hits.
2. Eagle Claw - A powerful uppercut that deals extra damage to reptiles
3. Agitate - Throws daggers at the enemy and hasa chane of making them dizzy
4. Slice and Dice - Liyer's Ultimate skill. Hundreds of slashes strung together in an artistic bloodbath

Secret Skill: Dance of Death - slices and stabs all enemies on screen

Character Analysis: Liyer is a quick striker with good combat potential. Where she lacks in HP and magic she makes up with very high agility and strength. She is the fastest character in the game if you choose to level her up and she will eventually be able to dual wield knives making her combat potential even better. If you like a fast paced fighter then Liyer is a perfect choice to level up

Role in the story : Liyer is the secondary character next to Link. She is very important to the plot very early in the game and at the very end. She is very headstrong and often makes choices without second thought. She even has her own segment in the game where she leaves link and you control her. It is also possible to trigger a romantic ending with her and Link (one of four between her, Zelda, Saria, and Annara), though im keeping the ending open ended as zelda games always do.

Zaleen (zahl-een)

"His soul injured, his life meaningless, he seeks to escape that which he left for the greater good..."
Race: Zora
Age: 26
Class: Priest
Weapon: Metal fin edges
Bio: Zaleen was once a very famous Gyorg hunter among the ocean Zoras along with his wife Telara. However one day he mysteriously abandoned his wife and was later found offering his service to the Temple of Time. Now he is the head Priest and attempts to help those in need on a daily basis. Zaleen joins Link's party after Hyrule's soldiers deem Link, Liyer, and himself traitors of Hyrule.

Skills
1. Heal - Restores lost hp
2. Remedy - removes status ailments
3. Sharp - Increases damage allies do
4. Barrier - Reduces damge allies take
5. Ressurect - Zaleen's ultimate skill. Brings back allies who have fallen in combat

Secret Skill: Nayru's Love - makes one ally temporaily invunerable to attacks

Character Analysis: Zaleen's healing and magical abilities make him an invaluable assest to the party. Unless you are fine with massing dozens of potions, Zaleen is the perfect choice to end your need for potions. Though he lacks in HP and combat prowess he makes up for his strong healing and defensive spells, players who are patient to level him up will be well rewarded.

Role in the story : Zaleen plays a more laid back and secondary role, though early in the game he is very important. ***WARNING SPOILERS*** During Link and Liyer's escape from Hyrule castle when they find Zaleen it is discovered he has been working for Evaleen. After being deemed a traitor for helping Link and Liyer escape he eventually is captured by the Hylian army and used as an excuse for Akazoo to declare war on the ocean Zoras. Though he keeps mostly everything to himself, later in the game he becomes a more tragic figure as he blames himself for the death of his people. It is also later discovered that the reason he left his wife and his career in Gyorg hunting is because Evaleen threatened to destroy the Zora people if he did not aid her. Much to his dismay his people ended up nearly being destroyed anyway.

Salfoss (sal-fus)

"Secrets be as they may, the dark figure brings about the greatest secret of them all with his legendary past..."
Race: Unknown
Age: Unknown
Class: Thief
Weapon: Knuckle Katars
Bio: A renowned assassin and thief, Salfoss is a very prominent figure in Hyrule's underground, yet no one knows anything about him other then that. He is often seen in bars from time to time in various cities across the country of Hyrule. Salfoss joins Link in a town called Vigjaro, north of Hyrule Castle in the country of Lanayru Province.

Skills
1. Leg Swipe - a simple attack that has a chance to stun the enemy.
2. Gut - a quick lunge that has a chance to stun the enemy.
3. Thunder Peirce - an attack so fast it creates lightning on hit. Deals thunder damage/
4 Gerudo Dragon- Salfoss' Ultimate attack. Summons the power of the ancient Gerudo and deals dark damage to his enemy

Secret Skill: Warlock Punch - Powerful blow passed down from Ganon himself

Character Analysis: Salfoss is a balanced character like Link, though he is slightly slower and has a better magic abilities. He has strong magic based skills, like his thunder pierce and Gerudo Dragon. He isnt the best character to choose in the main party, though players that choose to level him up will essentially have a double of Link with better magic attacks.

Role in the story : Salfoss remains quiet through the first portion of the game. He rarely talks in the beggining, often only making one line sarcastic remarks. His often almost nonexistance early in the game only builds up to what is likely one of the most shocking revelations in the whole story *****WARNING!!! MAJOR SPOILER!!!***** About 25% through the game the characters split up and go their separate ways. Link eventually comes upon Salfoss in the Geurdo desert, where he reveals himself as Mido, an ancient Kokiri that vowed to watch over Saria. However he failed when the Kokiri became extinct (he thought Saria died along with them) and left the Kokiri forest and wandered the country of Hyrule. leaving the bounds of the forest had an unexpected side effect... after several decades Mido began to age. After this point him and Link have a more competitious role as Salfoss/Mido is jealous of Saria's affection for Link. Salfoss' character is the one to end the whole story, so I wont say how

Daurina (dahr-oo-nee-uh)

"He follows his heart of steel, protecting all that he deems worthy of existence..."
Race: Goron
Age: over 150 (takes the form of a 40 year old Goron)
Class: Ruby Sage
Weapon: Giant metal gauntlets
Bio: The Ruby Sage and descendent of Maphaeus the First Sage of Fire, Daurina is the last surviving member of the extinct Goron race. After Death Mountain erupted nearly a century past, the Gorons froze to death but Daurina's power as a Sage kept him alive. Left alone, Daurina spends most of his days crafting various suits of armor in his frozen homeland. Daurina joins Link after Link and Salfoss stumble upon his lair while traveling through the frozen Death Mountain range.

Skills
1. Flame Punch - Bashes the enemy with a powerful fist of fire
2. Pillar of Fire - summons a giant cone of fire that torches his enemy
3. Goron Rage - sends all allies into a fury, increasing the damage they do and reducing the damage they take
4. Wrath of Mapheaus - Daurina's Ultimate attack. Summons the fires of Maphaeus herself to bombard all enemies on screen.

Secret Skill: Din's Fire - Unleashes the fury of the Goddess Din

Character Analysis: Daurina is the embodiment of sheer force... he is a powerhouse in a fight and can take down foes very fast. High damage, HP, and powerful fire-based magic are all characteristics of this massive beast. His only real drawbacks are his slow speed and lack of resistance to magical attacks, though his strengths far outweigh his weaknesses. Player will likely always include him in their party for his combat potential, and indeed he is one of the best choices to level up.

Role in story : Daurina, being one of the only Sages left next to Saria, plays an integral role in the plot, more so later in the story. During his initial appearance he serves more as a guide and navigator, and often has debates with Kazakk on what course of action to choose. He serves as a powerhouse in fights, and has many of the game's most powerful attacks. He considers Saria a sister to him and often finds her safety his top priority.

Saria

"She is in herself isolated from that which she strives to be, her tortured soul yearns for only one to love back..."
Race: Kokiri
Age: Over a 150 (Takes the form of an 13 year old Kokiri)
Class: Emerald Sage
Weapon: Sage Magic
Bio: The Emerald Sage and descendant of Sulkaris the First Sage of the Forests, Saria is the only remaining Kokiri left within the forest of the same name. She was once very close with the Hero of Time in the distant past, but her immortality led her to outlive him. Lonely and without anyone, Saria has fallen to a near insane state in her century long isolation. Saria joins Link's group after he, Salfoss and Daurina find her within the Kokiri Forest.

Skills
1. Emerald Fury - Barrages her enemy with giant emerald crystals
2. Mass Disorientation - dizzys all enemies on screen
3. Emerald Prison - traps enemy in a giant emerald crystal, making them unable to do anything.
4. Anger of the Forests- calls upon the forces of nature to unleash a poweful barrqage of elemental energy.
5. Emerald Bombardment - Saria's Ultimate skill. Summons a giant emerald meteor from the heavens, crashing down on all enemies.

Character Analysis: Saria has wicked magical attacks that serve well during the earlier stages of the game. She is relitively weak in melee and has very low HP, though she in incredibly resistant to magic based attacks and is very fast. Her Emerald Prison is one of if not the most useful attacks in the game, success results in the enemy being sealed away and unable to take action for the duration of a fight. When that fails her Emerald Fury and Emerald Meteors can bring pain to her foes. Saria is easy to level up and is a good choice for those who want a poweful magic user.

Role in the story : Saria is the central figure to the plot. Her connection to the Fallen Sage creates the game's central conflict. Also Saria's affection for link creates much conflict. Since she is trapped in a body that cannot age, and since she is a Sage that cannot love a mortal, her affection and desire for Link goes unsatiated and causes her to act irrationally. She often shows extreame jealousy when Liyer converses with Link and provides some comic releif when her and Liyer get into fights. Since the Fallen Sage has no mortal body, Saria; being a direct descendant of Sulkaris serves as a target for Sulkaris' attempt to become alive again.
After the first fight with the Fallen Sage, Saria sacrifices herself to save Link from a collapsing Sacred Realm. She and Sulkaris apparently die as the dimension collapses on itself.
Later in the game, Salfos (then revealed to be Mido) discovers that teh Sacred Realm still exists and Saria within. Him and Link retrive three Triforce Shards and free Saria, but at the cost of freeing Sulkaris with her. The Fallen Sage possesses Saria and transforms her into a hidious plant beast which Link slays. Saria apparently dies, Sulkaris soon to join her.
At the game's climax however, Sulkaris reveals that she and Saria are still alive, and uses Saria and the Heart of Palagard to become a premature Gohma God. Sulkaris is killed, and Saria seems safe at last. She finally reveals her love to Link, who unfortunately does not feel the same way. Saria is sent into a rage, and blames Liyer for stealing Link from her. She loses control of her powers and her anger morphs Saria into a massive crystalline entity which serves as the game's final boss. When the final blow is delivered... Saria's fate seems to be sealed...

Saria Viridor, the Emerald Sage's horrific transformation after losing control of herself over her failed passion for Link. Saria Viridor, when translated from Latin literally means "Saria to become Emerald"

Annara (uh-nahr-uh)

"Carefree, wild, and unrelentless... her mind takes her about the river of life..."

Race: Hylian
Age: 21
Class: Bounty Hunter
Weapon: Ordon Bow
Bio: Hailing from Ordon Province, a large untamed country south of Hyrule, Annara is a well known and famous Bounty Hunter. Her skill with the bow is unmatched and it is rumored she single handedly wiped out a Moblin tribe with only a quiver of arrows. Annara meets up with Liyer in Lanayru Province after Link and Liyer split up early in the game.

Skills
1. Bird Killer - a high velocity attack that never misses
2. Mute Arrow - has a chance to silence her enemy
3. Paralyzing arrow - has a chance to paralyze her target, making them unable to do anything.
4. Sidewinder - Annara's Ultimate skill. Unleashes dozens of arrows at her enemies.

Secret Skill: Triad - Fires three of the elemental arrows

Character Analysis: Annara has an odd set of skills and requires patience to use. Her mute and paralyzing arrows are invaluable and can easily tip a battle to your favor. Though she is incredibly weak in everything accept speed, players willing to take time and level her up are rewarded with an exceptionally useful character in battles that require brain over power

Role in the story : Annara serves as a more mature aspect of the story. She is often giving link advice on situations and has heart to heart and adult conversations with him. She has a very calm aura compared to the chaotic immature conversation with Saria, and the confusing teenaged relation conversations with Liyer. Though she has no significant role in the main plot, she has numerous sidequests that carve out her own tale.

General Kazakk (kuh-zak-uh)

"He only wishes to protect that which he loves and his kingdom... nothing can bring down his immobile spirit..."
Race: Half Hylian/ Gerudo
Age: 30
Class: Lancer
Weapon: Lance
Bio: The highest ranking General in Hyrule's grand army, General Kazakk has sworn loyalty to only the King and his daughter Zelda. Often scolded by common folk for his lack of pointed ears and mixed ancestry with Hyrule's ancient enemy the Gerudos, Kazakk more then proved his worth by leading Hyrule's army to victory during the recent Gerudo War. Kazakk meets up with Liyer in the ocean Zora capital of Airu after he is ordered by the King to invade Lanayru Province.

Character Analysis: General Kazakk is relitively balanced, though he has a much higher resistance to melee attacks then Link and Salfoss. Once he is able to dual wield lances he becomes a powerful melee fighter and proves his worth in combat. Kazakk is not the best character to level up, though those that descided to include him in the main party and work with him will get his potential out

Skills
1. Thrust - shoves his lace at his enemy, has a chance to stun
2. Boomerang - throws his lance like a boomerang at his target. Stuns on contact.
3. Morale Boost - restores a tiny but of health to all allies and greatly increases there agility for the duration of the battle.
4. Glory of Hyrule - Kazakk's Ultimate skill. Orders a volley of arrows from Hyrule's finest archers.

Secret Skill: Dual Wield - Allows Kazakk to dual weild lances

Role in the story : General Kazakk is a very patient and charasmatic figure. He often serves as the leader of the party, making all the plans and final descisions. His conflict with Akazoo gives him a larger role near the center of the game, though he is noticeably absent later in the game. Unlike most of Hyrule's generals he has consideration for the life of his troops and forgives though that betray him easily. General Kazakk is inspired by General Leo from FF6

Felonius (fee-luhn-ee-us)

"Knowledge is all he craves, yet knows not what knowledge he seeks...."
Race: Hylian
Age: 23
Class: Astronomer
Weapon: Astral Staff
Bio: Felonius has dedicated his life to the study of the stars and heavenly bodies. His passion came about after he discovered a staff that apparently fell from the sky, allowing him to summon exotic magics based on star alignments. Felonius' unique 'talents' were noticed by Hyrule's second highest ranking general, General Akazoo Vapith, and as such Felonius was hired to be Akazoo's personal servant. Felonius meets up with Link after traversing to the Greshou Library in an attempt to find information on the Fallen Sage.

Skills
1. Meteorite - calls forth a small meteorite from the sky upon his enemy.
2. Meteor - summons a giant meteor from space to bombard his enemy.
3. Comet - pulls forth a poweful mass from the heavens to bombard all enemys on screen.
4. Black Hole - Felonius' Ultimate skill. Sucks in all enemies to oblivion, instantly killing them. (Doesn't work on bosses)

Secret Skill: Supernova - Need anything else be said?

Character Analysis: Felonius has low HP, is slow, is very weak in melee, is weak against both physical and magic attacks, and take longer to level up then any of the other characters. What he lacks he makes up with his ridiculously powerful cosmic spells. Felonius' Meteors and Comets can dish out tons of damage, and his Black Hole effectively makes all non-boss fights automatic wins. Very patient players who take time to level up Felonius will be rewarded with the most powerful attacks in the game.

Role in the story : As a direct servant of Akazoo, who serves as a major antagonist, Felonius offers a view of the side Link and his companion are going against. Felonius also consitanlty tries to convince Link that Akazoo is not evil and only acting for "the greater good of Hyrule." Felonius is also a major cause for the initial conflict with Akazoo, as is is he that suggested to Akazoo the idea of using the Gohma as a device to pull Hyrule into war. ***WARNING!! SPOILERS*** Many people also notice an unmistakable resemblance between Felonius and Vaati, and after the end of the game there is a lengthy sidequest that leads to this explanation. Felonius stumbles upon ancient texts refering to the Wind Mage. After completeing a secret dungeon Felonius discoveres he is a reincarnation of Vaati, and with that self realization all his memories of his vilinous past flood back into his head. Vaati is reborn again and flees into darkness (potential sequel if this game is popular)

Zelda

"Her power is unrelenting... with it she guides those to the light..."
Race: Hylian
Age: 17
Class: None
Weapon: Rapiers
Bio: The crown Princess of Hyrule, Zelda has currently been locked in a debate with Hyrule's generals on the issue of going to war with the Gohma. She is highly trained in Sheikah martial arts and swordplay, though her skill is still unrefined and wild. Her father had prearranged a marriage between her and General Akazoo, though after Zelda's dissaproval the King wilingly cancelled it. Zelda is the last main character to join Link in the game.

Skills
1. Power Break - inflicts weakness upon her enemy, making their physical attacks do far less damage
2. Mental Break - Inflicts stupification upon her enemy, making their magic attacks do far less damage.
3. Sheikah Prowress - Powerful melee attacks that inflict numerous random status effects on her enemy

Character Analysis: Since Zelda comes late in the game she is difficult to level up with everyone else. Her exotic combat style leads to her missing a lot, though she is the strongest melee fighter and is only slightly slower then Liyer. Her Shiekah Prowess is a very cheap move, the fact that it has a chance to inflict every status effect on an enemy will prove useful, especially in boss fights. She's not the best choice to level up, but those that go with zelda will have a fun time bringing her skills into fights.

VILLIANS

Sulkaris, The Fallen Sage (sool-kahr-is)

One of the first seven Sages created by the Goddesses to watch over the Triforce, Sulkaris fell to her own corruption and attempted to steal the Triforce and become omnipotent in her own right. Caught before her hands could touch the golden relic, Solarisin the Sage of Light and Demoko the Sage of Time ripped her from her mortal body and cast her tainted spirit from the Sacred Realm. Sulkaris wandered the world for ages until stimbling upon a beast known as Gohma Imannis, and with her powers possesed the creature and sent it on a rampage throughout Hyrule. Once the descendant of the original Sages intervened, Sulkaris was once again destroyed and imprisoned by the Emerald Sage of that time; a centaurian creature known as Palagard. Palagard vowed to watch over Sulkaris for all eternity in hopes she would not cause any more chaos to Hyrule.

Sulkaris is later freed during the game when Link visits Palagard's Sanctuary and kills the guardian. The Fallen Sage is freed to resume her selfish plot.

She is not seen again until Akzoo opens a portal to the Sacred Realm where Link confronts her for the first time. She is apparently defeated, but she manages to touch the Triforce breifly and wish for Link to be destroyed with her in the Sacred Realm. Saria however sacrifices hersaelf to save Link, and we are left with the impression Sulkaris is destroyed along with Saria in the Sacred Realm.

Unfortuately, Sulkaris survies, and is again freed when Link and Mido releases Saria. Sulkaris shows up and posseses Saria, transforming the Emerald Sage into a hidious plant beast. Link sadly kills Saria, and then unleashes his rage and slays Sulkaris too.... or so he thought.

Sulkaris shows up once again at the game's climax, and reveals that she will use Akazoo's plan and become the Gohma God. Unfortunately for her, she does the process prematurely and transforms into an imcomplete version of the Gohma God. Link and his group eventuallty kill Sulkaris for good after a long epic dual.

Sulkaris-Futalisk, transformed into a premature Gohma God

General Akazoo Vapith (ahk-uh-zoo va-peeth)

The second highest ranking General in Hyrule's Army, Akazoo Vapith has served the King of Hyrule and is especially knwon for his inhumane but effective tactics in the last Gerudo War. Akazoo is also well known for his sarcastic and almost insane attitude, and as such he is often seen wearing blood red clown makeup. Though many of Hyrule's soldiers enjoy Akazoo's linient command style, he is rightfully feared for his apparent instablility.
Akazoo started his service with much praise, the King even offered him the chance to marry Princess Zelda once she had come of age. Akazoo, quite taken with the young princess gladly accepted. Akazoo then lead Hyrule's army, along with General Kazakk against the Gerudo to victory.
After the Gerudo Wars however Akazoo's fame dwindled. Before long Hyrule was no longer focused on war and Akazoo's deeds went into the history books but were never spoken of. He became less and less popular, and as such his anger grew. Akazoo devoted the next few years trying to find a way to initiate a war in Hyrule again, and the discovery of a Gohma army rekindled his hopes. Using the arachnid's mobilization as an excuse, Akazoo desparately attempted to convince all of Hyrule's generals to go to war. Only after the revealation of a secret army Akazoo assembled did the King willingly declare war. Akazoo would have been left to history after that, but the King came to him and said his daughter Zelda was not meant for him, and that she was to be married off to someone her own age.
His mental state shattered, anger at a boiling point, and desires unsatiated, Akazoo began to use his Gohma plot to achieve other ends that no one dared to learn of...
Akazoo is inspired by Kefka from FF6, and his behavior is similar in many ways. Akazoo serves as the primary antagonist for the first dozen hours of the game until Sulkaris comes in for a more prominent role.

Evaleen, the First Sage of Shadow (ee-vah-leen_

Created with the first seven Sages to guard the Triforce, Evaleen chose to highlight the beauty of Darkness and Death in it's purest form. Master of all that is dark and dead, Evaleen has the ability to communicate with the dead and ressurect those that have died. Though not neccissarily evil, Evaleen ended up supporting Sulkaris in her attempt to steal the Triforce. Once Evaleen was discovered to have aided the Fallen Sage, she was killed outright by the other Sages. Centuries later Evaleen was brough back to life by Akazoo. Quite taken by the phycotic man and in appreciation for bringing her back to life, Evaleen descided to use Akazoo to free Sulkaris from her eternal prison.
Evaleen is inspired by Safer Sephiroth from FF7, I wanted her to have a dark yet angelic appearance of awe as Sephiroth did in the final battle from FF7. Though Evaleen serves as an antagonist she is not naturally evil, her veiwpoint is simple in the wrong place. I thought this would add depth to her character and I hope it does when I release the game.

Dark Link

A manifestation of everything Link despises of himself, Dark Link initially serves an undefined role. He randomly appears at insignificant moments to confront Link, most of the time he simply states he is 'testing him' and lets Link beat him.

****WARNIGN SPOILERS!!!****
Later in the game Dark Link becomes the leader of a troop of vigilante Darknuts. Donning powerful armor of dark energy and weilding an invisible sword that lights on fire, Dark Link runs through Hyrule causing chaos and destruction. Link eventually encounters him and fights him and his band of darknuts. Link eventually cracks through Dark Link's armor and apparently kills him. His armor falls off into peices, but there is no body to be found. Dark Link later returns near the very end of the game in the Temple of Time and confronts Link for one last battle. He finally reveals his purpose: he in fact is there to save Hyrule from falling into despair and darkness... for even though he is a shadow he admits there has to be a balance between light and dark. He says someone very, very close to Link will bring about eternal darkness if Link is not slain. Link and Dark Link fight one on one, though Dark Link copies every single move Link does the exact same time he does. In desparation Link notices his body beggining to fade away into nothingness, while Dark Link slowly become fleshy, almost to the point where he looks like a copy of Link. In a seemingly random move, Link thrusts his sword through his faded body, Dark Link copies the move and inavertantly kills himself. Link's body slowly becomes normal, and Dark Link melts into a pile of black liquid. Before he vanishes he says as long as there is Light in Link, Dark Link will always be there in his shadow

The game is roughly 80% complete, and will likely be finished in the next 2-3 weeks. If all goes according to planned, the game will release at www.phanxgames.com on november 17th

The Sequel Already?!

No.... not exactly yet. As mentioned in the last update there are plans for two sequels after the Fallen Sage is finished. The first one I've began briefly on, I've only made one fight with Link and Saria. It's a nifty new side battle system which blows the one currently used in the Fallen Sage out of the water. As of now I am not working on the sequel at all until the Fallen Sage is finished, I just thought an hour or two to bring this screenshot would get people who enjoy the game something to be excited about when they beat it

The Sequel to the Fallen Sage, so far its codenamed "Time's Managerie." It features a new antagonist, a new and improved battle system, nd two separate storylines that involed a broken timeline.

The game is officially halfway done. I am not guaranteeing it, but the release date might be much sooner then christmas

So what's the deal with a shorter game?

For those that sudenly saw the games playtime drop from approx 60 hours to 30 hours dont be discouraged... while the game may seem shorter, its about to get alot longer. Let me try to explain the several reasons for this, and what is comming out of this change.

1. I read an article in a gaming magazine about the length of games and how they are getting increasingly longer but offering less and instead artificially extending them. Apparently, according to the article (it is just an opinion) it seems today a game is defined in quality by its length. I believe indeed games dont need to be extrodinarily long to deliever a great experience, and after relooking the script for the Fallen Sage I realize that i could concievably finish the story in far less then 60 hours, but of course I do like long games.... so ill get back to what im doing to compensate for the shorter game later.

2. I found a different version of RPG maker that allows for side-view battles. I have no problem with the Fallen Sage's current frontal battle system, but I honestly think the side-view will look more lively and animated, and will allow me to translate the enemies in a more exciting fashion.

3. One day a few weeks ago i was randomly thinking about the end of the game. I wont blow it here, but after looking through it i realized that there will be some major loopholes that will be left unfilled... so that night i jotted down and thought up of a potentially longer (much longer) overarching story. Bascically in a nutshell, the Fallen Sage will only be a part of a larger whole of a story.

So then, what am I going to do to make up for the shorter game? If you hadn't guessed yet I am making two sequels after, each sequal will have a radically different art style and different RPG system. the first sequel will feature the side battle view as I mentioned, and even more playable characters, including all the sages from Oot. For the third game I am thinking it will be a full 3D RPG, but I dont want to get too far ahead of myself. To sum it all up, the game is shorter, but none of the original tale is being shortened, and this even means the release date might be sooner... Also the sequels will give people something to look forward to when they finish the game. Besides... 30 hours is still pretty long right?

2nd post.

Why is lanayru province so far a way from Lake Hylia, and why is Ordon next to Lake Hylia? The Gerudo Desert has a river that connects to Lake Hylia in OoT. Is this a mix up of OoT and TP?

The characters seem a bit cruddy in the actual fighting sequence, but the sprites and overworld maps look great. ((Assuming you made them yourself that is.)) But the fighting sequence, and character modeling could use some work, the Characters themselves though were thought out well.

That does look very nice. =o
