Welcome to Gaia! :: The Contest Suggestion Thread

I'd like a contest for users to design the weekly comics (as they don't get updated enough). I'd also like to see the return of themed art contests, as long as they're open to everyone (including international users.) And if the film festival is a hit, have themed film contests.

Another idea some users have wanted is a flash-game programming contest that could be eventually integrated into gaia. Similar to newground's flash portal. User made games (though not necessarily for gold) might reduce the amount of boredom complaints in SF.

Another common suggestion is a contest for users to design their own items. While there are a few user concerns (such as rip-offs) with the idea, it may be worth a shot.

Keep in mind that all contests need to be fair for most age groups. For example, a calculus contest isn't going to carry over too well. Or a "Pimp out your real life car with gaia" contest. Writing, Photography, Film, and Art can be developed at any age, though, so continue to have that type of contest.

I think we should win original items. (Like your head, Mr. Bruise.) Or trophies/medals. Perhaps even a "winner's crown" or something of the sort.

Alot of users would like old MC's, though many users who have these items would be offended by their re-release.

Edit to users: All these ideas were either mine, or came up often in SF. If one of these ideas was yours, I put it in this post because I thought it was worth mentioning. I am not reading through this topic and stealing ideas, or stealing ideas from this forum. I'm simply mirroring some common suggestions from dead SF threads.

No seriously, you could have users make costumes of their favorite items *or* their favorite NPCs' outfits and submit pictures for judging.



And my other idea was art contests that deal with realism or photography. I know that a lot of users were upset that the last major art contest for anime style drawings only. It would be only fair to have a non-anime style art contest.

I've suggested before a writing contest before. XP So it'd give all the dopes in the avatar arena something to do instead of make their badly dressed avatar get better votes by creative writing >_>;

Id love to contribute to Gaia in any way. The weekly comics contest is a great idea, but what if you can't draw. What if you can write? I propose Gaia fanfictions. Maybe more into the storyline. I mean, we only get events for holidays and those come only once and a while. I'd personally love to write a fanfiction on Gaia. And what about fashion designing new items. We barely get item updates. Thats basically all I can think of. I'm sorry.
And as of rewards, its very very very conceited of me to say I would like "old monthly collectibles" and Gaia gold. These are very hard to get nowadays because of infiltration and rarity.
