For me, evolution is a lot to swallow. I just don't understand the logic of it all. It is much easier to accept the logic that there was a Creator. Plus I feel much safer knowing that we aren't all just a cosmic accident.




What logic is there to understand?

It's a lot to swallow to admitting that everything in obervable nature is entirely false and some magic man in the sky just popped us into existance for absolutely no reason.

Evolution is like this:

The world is a tough place to live in. Whatever factor increases the ability of its bearer to reproduce successfully, or avoid destruction if reproduction is impossible, will necessarily become more common throughout a population.

Now, because situations change over time, what factors lead to success (and therefore are becoming more common) will be changing over time.

Let's say that a population of quadrupedal mammals has variation in a given heritable non-sex-linked trait... let's say, leg length, right? So we take them and we force them to live in an environment with dense, spiky bushes that come just up to the bellies of median-height animals.

So the males who are at the median or shorter are going to suffer injury to their reproductive organs - basically, their balls are going to get stuck full of thorns. They won't be able to breed, while taller males will be able to breed because their balls are not getting stuck full of thorns. Because height is heritable, at least partially, then over time, the population will tend to get taller, in both sexes: females who are short will have trouble mating (do I have to draw you a picture?) and thus will be reproductively unsuccessful.

So tall genes mean a greater likelihood that said genes will be passed on. Thus, tall genes become more and more common. Now, if we postulate that the bushes with the spikes and stuff have been undergoing selection to get even taller, then the animals are going to be selected even more harshly. They may even become so different in height from their parent stock that mating becomes almost impossible, except with freakishly tall examples of the parent stock.

if gods so real why doesnt he ever do anythin?
God is the one that makes everything move. the whole world...no the whole UNIVERSE revolves around God our creator.
and the bible existed way before 300 YEARS ago remember Jesus told his disciples to write down whatever they see? that's how the bible was created, through the prophets, Christ and his disciples.

But in my opinion, the bible is fact. so is evolution. [lol] and we did not evolve from monkeys, we evolved from neandethals, and "Lucy"

We did not evolve from Neanderthals, Humans and Neanderthals evolved from a common ancestor.

He probably meant around 300 BC, when the NT was canonised.
As for who wrote it, nothing in it was written by Jesus' disciples. All of it was third hand accounts of his works at best, and was written over the following few hundred years.

Neanderthals are not ancestral to humans, they're more of a "cousin" species.

Evolution can be counted as fact because we can observe it in certain types of animals. There are finches on the galaligoes islands who's beak sizes vary from year to year due to rain cycles that year. It's really interesting.

Not quite.
"Theory" here doesn't mean any uncertainty about it (in science everything has a degree of uncertainty, just not always a reasonable degree of doubt), it means that we have a very well-supported idea that describes the mechanisms of observed fact. I can't count how many times the word "theory" has been defined in this thread. Please don't drop in on a several-hundred page thread just to repeat something that's already been dealt with. It perpetuates wrong ideas.

I used to read the Creation magazine answersingenesis.org and it explains heaps of things that help to discredit evolution as a theory. There was information about monkeys and dinosaurs and things like that and I found it really helpful.

I used to read the Creation magazine answersingenesis.org and it explains heaps of things that help to discredit evolution as a theory. There was information about monkeys and dinosaurs and things like that and I found it really helpful.


Yet another creationist site that tries to discredit scientific advancement that supposedly says they are wrong by using ignorant misunderstandings.

If you used your brain then you would be a fool if you believe that site

well weither you believe in God or not it is important either way. me i believe in Evolution because to me it makes perfect sence and im not going to tell you there is no God. i have a very logical sence of knowledge and this makes me believ in Evolution how ever i would like the idea of there being a God sadly though i am unable to Believe in such a thing because ive not enough reason to. For me someone telling me to Believe in God is like to Jump of a Bridge ive got no reason to trust them. and an example of Evolution. well ever wonder why in the last 50 years or so everyone seems to need braces? well its because the human jaw is evolving and it is droping down a bit and going a bit back into the head this causes teeth to be put into incorrect positions, hence the need for braces. oh and btw evolution takes an extremely long time. 3 billion years ago our decendants were monkeys. not sure if thats exactly right but from what i remember 3 billion 200 million yrs ago
