• Odysseus's Taunt:
    The "Mighty Gods"

You created us in your image
Our bodies, pawns to service your amusement,
Our minds, fruits of a mere accident.
"We are nothing without your power."

    Left to my own devices
I, Odysseus have proven victorious over the Trojans
I, Odysseus have reclaimed my brother's pride.
    This "power" you gave us,
These lies you spat at us,
    That we so willingly believed,
Were all the mere creed of your existence.

Alas I return home with word of our victory,
But not that of the "mighty gods,"
No, but that of the Greeks,
    Of man…
… Give or take another ten years.
