• Stubborn eyes
    stare into mine,
    pick apart lies,
    weaved by curved lines.
    Under the surface
    more lonely than not,
    a broken-down fortress,
    a kingdom distraught.
    A princess in turmoil,
    a golden crown stolen,
    water coming to a boil
a new path set and chosen.
    Smiling for a photo’s whim,
    beginning to sink,
    unable to swim.
    The reality falls through,
pinning all the blame on you.
