When its dark, I'm blind
Unable to see the path ahead.
There is no light, to show me the way.
And from the path I stray.

But when I see a light, it isnt bright
There are shadows all around
I try to fight them off,
But soon give in.

My life went dark,
I suddenly saw life through a new light.
My life is now ruled by the darkness
That blinded me.

True light shines from within. To go astray is just another obstacle. (I know it sounds corny)
Find peace and serenity even in the most darkest of times, and you will see the light. The light that is within You.

It seems you are getting caught by the will o' the wisps, the phantom lights that have no other wish than to draw travellers off the path with thier glow and then vanish as quick as they appear leaving the traveller further lost. To get out of the dark one must find a faint light that seems impossibly distant and unreal, for as impossible as that light seems, it is true light.
