• Faded footsteps in my mind
The crunch of fallen flakes and leaves
A friendship pure that transcends time
As whispers scrape across the eaves

I feel them here within my soul
Their soothing whispers calm me still
A peace so true it make me whole
And cause the empty space to fill

Their humming song is life anew
    As falling, growing, cycle on
My heart is one and we are true
As I now hum to natures song

As father strides above us all
A family, we are as one
I plant my roots and reach up tall
and feel as though I've just begun

A seedling 'neath my brothers boughs
Our roots are meshed beneath the earth
A familys love and familys vows
We are together from our birth

and as I spread and reach the sky
I feel the warmth of noons embrace
A time of plenty from on high
We are all one being beneath its grace

But then I open up my eyes
And find my vision clouded still
I have no boughs to reach up high
No roots to bury in the hill

But deep inside I hear their song
It hums within my heart so sweet
I bid fairwell, but not for long
for soon again our lives will meet
