You are my dear unlike any other
Never will I find another
You’re the rhyme that gives me reason
You denied the basic childlike treason
Rejected the lies, the jealousy and such
To this gift we did clutch
Year one began and we couldn’t know
How far, how long we had to go
Innocence punctured a naiive beginning
Never crying always grinning
Save for a few scrapes of the knee
Sun burned skin or a sting by a bee
Year two went by in the same haze
Playgrounds, bikes, and summer days
Year three began we were still going strong
We found that together we did belong
This truth we faced with unwavering smiles
Never guessing the mature future trials
Year four was much the same
Although we learned a dangerous game
We made a discovery that year
One that every parent does fear
Oh my, there is another sex!
We found new muscles we prepared to flex
This is when we entered a maze
When we began to set this city ablaze
Year five was harder than any before
Out broke an adolescent’s war
Although still we kept it together
For this, anything would’ve been severed
Year six continuously seemed like a breeze
Until one of us found their sex drive with ease
But still it would not get us down
Our relationship was becoming world renown
Year seven was a distant one
And yet we still were as sure as the sun
More frequently now were these harsh trials
However we still had memories to compile
Year eight, the most recent, you see
We now have a secured guarantee
It’s no longer in question though it never really was
You’ve given me something no one else does
Something I hold very close to my heart
To me you are a vital life part
My angel, you make me so very proud
You constantly shine through the crowd
You make me think more so than many do
How I got so lucky I haven’t a clue
Don’t ever get down baby, hold your head up
Remember you’re my buttercup
Don’t let anyone take that fire
It’s what everyone admires
Along with your beautiful smile
How you make people laugh all the while
I know your going to do better than fine
Success you will come to define
So please never face the world with fear
Look to your side I will be here
You and I will conquer the rest
The top of the top the best of the best
You will go far I know it’s true
Have I mentioned honey, I’m proud of you?
The apple of my eye
My pumpkin pie
Year one is when I knew
I would always love you
