• Adventure in mind,
    The courageous eye,
    Exploring the world,
    Known as the back yard.

    The fear-filling sound,
    Of the howling wind,
    The mouth wide open,
    Seeming teeth within.

    A trembling step,
    With an echo is met,
    The startled jump,
    Another cautious step.

    The swallowing darkness,
    Daunting and black,
    Could not turn him back,
    For courage above fear.

    A blast of wind,
    Wings flapping within,
    "It's just the bats,"
    He whispered again.

    A sudden crack,
    A deep rumble,
    "It's a trap!"
    He yelled and stumbled.

    Fleeing from the yawning giant,
    The pebble still rumbling inside.
His fear got the best of him,
Maybe tomorrow he'll put it aside.
