• Baseball is a sport in which any actions from any player can change the way the whole team plays. Being a pitcher, even more of the weight of the game is on you. Striking somebody out will boost a team’s morale but if a home run were to be hit, players would feel low and gloomy. In my experience all sports have ups and downs, highs and lows, but in baseball these affect the team’s play a lot more than in other sports; this has helped me mature and learn more about life.

As a pitcher when I strike someone out it feels amazing. When I strike somebody out, the whole team plays better because they become happy when you play well. If everyone is playing better, the team will either start catching up or will maintain a strong lead if already winning. Striking people out helps the team abundantly. After I strike someone out the other team is affected as well. Because of this, the other team will have a harder time catching up or keeping their lead. If the other team is struggling, that usually means my team is going to win. When I get a strike out I greatly help my team because it strengthens my team while also weakens the other.

While pitching there are also ways I have made myself feel bad and my team broken hearted. One time, while I was pitching, a homerun was hit off me; this isn’t very fun to go through. When a homerun is hit off any pitcher everyone on the team feels the blow. This was shown through my team’s actions on the field and how they talked in the dugout. Even though we were still winning by twenty everyone on the team gave me crap for allowing the other team to score and it made me feel bad and play worse. Anytime something goes amiss for one team, the other team has something favorable happen to them. For example, when the home run was hit off of me the other school, Apollo, was cheering wildly my team acted poignant and bereaved. This allowed Apollo to be happy and have fun even though they were being greatly outdistanced by my team, the Rattlers. After this experience I have tried my best not to allow any more homeruns hit off me.

Playing baseball has taught me a lot about life and how to fight through the rough and to cruise through the pleasing times. My experiences from baseball can also help people who play different sports as well because the lessons can help anyone’s life become more pleasant. The good times and bad times in baseball can easily change the outcome of a game. The best of these times are obviously the good because I have more fun when I play well and win.
