• heart I love you. Probably one of the most over-used words in society today is "love". We use it in many different ways: I love my boyfriend(/girlfriend), I love hockey, I love roast pork, and I love Halo, among many others. But what does it really mean? To find this answer, I used Wikipedia, just as I'm sure you would as well. It said that "love is any of a number of emotions and experiences related to a sense of strong affection". That very well may be true, but we already know that much, don't we? But the true meaning cannot be found on any website, Wikipedia or not. The true meaning is a question for which I'm sure many people have died trying to find the answer. Well, maybe just one or two, but still... it's a pretty complicated thing. I love roast pork. Love in this sentence is used in a very simple way: if you like a certain type of food - roast pork - very much, then you would say that you "love" roast pork. And if you don't like roast pork, maybe you could insert chocolate into that sentence to have it make more sense. If chocolate doesn't work, then there's most likely something wrong with you. But isn't it a bit strange that you can say "I love -insert food you love here-" and also say "I love my boyfriend/ girlfriend"? The word love in those two sentences means two entirely different things! How is it that such a seemingly simple word that we have for everyday use can be so complex? A double meaning, perhaps? No, that usually only happens when one of your friends finds something perverted in something you say. Maybe it just has multiple definitions? For this, I turned to another website: Dictionary.com. Unfortunately, the stupid, retarded perental controls on my computer did not allow me to see the definition; only the homepage of the site. So, I had to go to the good old American Heritaage Dictionary. The version on my computer, of course. It told me these definitions (you don't actually have to read the definitions, just notice that there are seven of them):

    1. A deep, tender, ineffable feeling of affection and solicitude toward a person, such as that arising from kinship, recognition of attractive qualities, or a sense of underlying oneness. 2. A feeling of intense desire and attraction toward a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair; the emotion of sex and romance. 3.a. Sexual passion. b. Sexual intercourse. c. A love affair. 4. An intense emotional attachment, as for a pet or treasured object. 5. A person who is the object of deep or intense affection or attraction; beloved. Often used as a term of endearment. 6. An expression of one's affection. 7.a. A strong predilection or enthusiasm. b. The object of such an enthusiasm.

Okay, so maybe it has a few definitions. But a lot of words have that many definitions! Especially on the computer, where they can fit more stuff without wasting any trees! But that's beside the point. The point I'm trying to make is this: where in all of those definitions does it have anything whatsoever about roast pork or chocolate?! heart
