• Anaya

I back pedaled, as we came out of the jump, Adam let go of my hand and we flew forward into my bedroom. I tripped over the rug and body slammed my bookshelf. Adam got lucky and landed on my bed. I laid for a second on the floor of my bedroom, when suddenly half the books, that where piled on top of the self swayed and fell on me. “Argh!” I yelled as an encyclopedia landed only stomach. “Anaya?” Adam asked getting off my bed. “Why do i have that damn encyclopedia?” I questioned coughing, a little to loudly. I pushed the books off and Adam helped me sit up. Then i heard the running. Someone was running towards us. I scrambled to my feet and grabbed Adam by the hand looking around frantically as to where to hid him, but it was to late. My bedroom door flew open. Eric came running in yelling and swinging a baseball bat. Angel and Toby were behind them. The lights flicked on and every one stopped dead. Eric stared at me. Then he did something he’s never done before. Eric dropped the baseball bat, walked over to me, placed his hands on my shoulders and just stared at me for a solid minute. Then Eric hugged me. He hugged me so hard i couldn’t breath. Eric had never hugged me like that, i mean, we hug, but not like this. And certainly not for what seemed like a solid 2 minutes. “You’re alive.” Eric said, he sounded… Relieved? “Anaya!” Toby shouted pushing Eric away and swallowing me in a hug, Angel joined him. Toby started to cry. “Hey, hey, whats wrong?” I cooed patting his soft hair. “I…I’m just so happy!” Toby sobbed, he seemed smaller. Not height wise, but body wise. Like he’d lost weight. I looked over toby’s shoulder and saw Eric watching us. He seemed skinner to. “I’m so happy to see you all again.” I said hugging Toby back. Then a book fell over. We all turned to see a very uncomfortable Adam, trying to back away. Eric was on him, in a second. Eric had Adam pinned faced down, eating carpet. “Who are you? What are you doing here?” Eric. Then Toby screamed. I looked at him startled. “Anaya you’re bleeding!” He said. I reached down over my stomach and felt a small trace of blood. My wound must’ve opened up a bit when we fell. Eric let out a terrifying roar and slammed Adams head into the ground. “DID YOU DO THIS? YOU HURT ANAYA. KIDNAPPED HER. MADE HER JUMP BACK HERE AND NOW YOU WANNA TRY TO GET US TO. WELL YOU GOT ANOTHER THING COMING p***k!” Eric screamed slamming Adam again. “STOP!” I screamed tearing myself away from Toby and rushing to Adam. I wrestled Eric off of Adam and turned him over. “Hey are you okay?” I asked Adam, patting his face trying to get him to open his eyes. “WHO THE ******** IS THIS GUY!” Eric screamed, his face redder than i’ve ever seen it, it was scary. “You knocked him out.” I said leaving Adam on his back. “Calm down will you?” I said holding my hands up. Snakes are dangerous. You must remain calm when dealing with them, or else they’ll get past you and then all hell breaks lose. “Who. Is. He.” Eric hissed, his eyes glowed a bright yellow. “I’ll explain it to you, but first i need you to back up. And get control over yourself. Out of the corner of my eye i saw Toby take Angel’s hand and inch slowly towards Adam. I backed Eric out of the room and shut the door to my bedroom. Once the door shut the yellow from Eric’s eyes disappeared. He leaned heavily on the wall behind him and slid to the ground. “Eric?” I sad cautiously, snakes can be tricksters. “I’m sorry.” He whispered. “It’s fine, you don’t have to explain.” I said. “If anything, I was the one with the most explaining to do.” I patted his head, before turing around and opening the door again, to get Toby. I had to explain to both of them.

We sat at the dinning room table silently. I had just finished telling them about my wonderful trip to Alaska. “So he basically saved you?” Eric asked leaning back in his chair. The dark circles under his eyes stuck out stunningly against his paler than normal skin. His silver blue eyes duller than normal. Toby’s skin lost it’s olive tone, and his bronze golden eyes twinkled with exhaustion. I looked at my hands, they looked the same as normal. I realized again, that human emotion is shown through the face, everything was there. Every emotion, on their faces. Did they know i felt sorry for what happened. Did they know i was guilty for making them worry so much. I reached for my hood, but stopped. “I’m sorry.” I said pulling the hood down over my face. Eric grunted, Angel came into the room and sat down next to Toby. Apparently Angel knew alot about the Oribis family and our secret. It was nice having an outsider on the inside. But of course we still didn’t know what to do about either Angel or Adam. “I don’t think we should tell the Family.” Toby said stealing a glance at Angel, who smiled at Toby. “If we don’t and they find out the consequences… will be great.” Eric said staring at the ceiling and folding his arms over his chest. “For who us or them?” I asked. Eric’s head shifted up to look at me. “For us if we don’t tell the Oribis family, for them if we do.” Eric said sighing heavily. “We could erase their memories.” I suggested. Toby shifted in his seat suddenly his eyes tearing up. Angel placed a hand over Toby’s. They looked at each other sharing a sad loving look. Then Angel cleared his throat. “I.. I don’t care about the secret. Erase my memory, but please. I don’t wanna forget Toby. Please.” Angel said, his voice sad, his eyes tired, and his face exhausted. “I don’t wanna erase their memories.” Eric said. “Then what do you propose we do?” I asked getting inpatient. Eric was silent for a minute. “We do nothing.” Eric said, my heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean? Do nothing? They’ve seen Adam’s face they’ll come after him, because of me.” I said slamming my fists on the table. “Then Angel has nothing to do with it!” Eric screamed back. “Any outsider who knows the secret must be dealt with!” I shouted getting up. “I said we will not erase any memories! That is my decision to make!” Eric stood up with such force he knocked the chair over. “What we will do, is bring Adam to live here.” Eric said. “He’ll go underground like you, Anaya, hiding in plain sight. Hiding his face. He can live a normal life, just with his head down.” Eric said. “You brought him into this mess. You deal with him.” Eric said coldly. Cold like a snake. “The apartment isn’t big enough for the four of us!” I said feeling uneasy, and suddenly sick. “Getting a bigger apartment wont be that difficult.” Eric said walking away from us.
