• She smiled to everyone on that very first day. This was the easiest part of college for her: charming people. All her life, people gave her the spotlight. She walked with confidence, gliding down the halls. And of course, people looked her way. She carried herself so well, that no one even noticed, her hands were shaking, she was about to explode. She was an introvert, always at home. Making friends was something she was never good at.

He entered the university's gates with a simple stride. He too, was confident about this day. Talking to people was something he mastered. His family was well known in their town, there was not a single body who he couldn't charm.

FInally someone talks to her. A girl who had just arrived. She thought no one would actually come near her. Hello! the girl said, then they chattered away. Then she met the boy to her left, and had two new friends. Then the five boys to her front, all turned around to chat. Then a tap on her back, two boys shook her hand. Then the girl at the end of the row behind her came to join in the new group she had just made. Then at the corner of her eye, two rows behind her seat, she saw him look away.

He arrived in the classroom sitting on the first seat he had his eyes on. He met the girl to his left, and the girl to her left, and the girl to her left. He was going to meet the three people in front of his seat. Two boys and a girl, but they were already talking to the people to their front. Just as he was about to look away, she turned around. She was smiling at the people behind her, the people he wanted to meet. She shook their hands and waved to the girl at the end. Then their eyes met, for the briefest moment, all his confidence ran indoors, he looked away.

Lunchtime came, his chance to meet her. He joined them for lunch, grabbing a chance he could chat with her. Finally within arms length, he tapped her shoulder.

She was ready for lunch. She had now made more friends from the back. Everyone went ahead to order some lunch, while she stood by the huge menu debating whether to get bacon or chicken. She was about to join her friends when three gentle taps landed on her shoulder.
