• Its was a regular warm and moist day. Blazer was wearing his usual clothes, slightly ripped and dirty. He was living with his parents in the kingdom of Burg. His parents were poor farmers and had to eat only what they were able to grow. Blazer was in the plains laying on the ground looking at the clouds. The wind was blowing through his silk short brown hair. Blazer was thirteen going on fourteen tomorrow and he was bored with his life. He always expected more from life. Last year his parents ( Linda and John) told him they were going to the courtyard for a meeting with the king of Burg. Blazer was really exited but quickly let down when they added they were going alone. Blazer never saw the kingdom of Burg before. Well he can see it from his room in the attic of the barn but he never got a chance to actually see it up close. He always sat on the window sill watching firework ls come from the kingdom at night. The colors amazed him a lot. Red, green, blue, the mix of orange and red were his favorite. Blazer and his parents live along the road that leads to the kingdom of Burg but they live in the territory. Blazer lifted hos hand replacing the suns light and making a glow form around his hand. " I'm bored just sitting around all day and working,, i want an adventure." he let out a sigh
"Blazer, honey come here, I have a surprise for you." He heard his mom calling for what seemed like 10 feet away. Blazer got up and started jogging home along the path to the kingdom. Blazer was on the front porch when hos German Shepard, Bingo jumped up at him knocking him down.
"Bingo, how are you buddy? Want to play fetch?" Blazer picked up a stick from a stack on the porch and he threw it as far as he could. He watched his dog run after it while thinking. Wow, i cant believe I raised that pup . He asked for a dog when he was seven but he didn't get it on his eighth birthday. He got really upset but after a few weeks of his parents arguing, his dad came up with"He has nothing to play with and beside he is working really hard"
Blazer knew this was his chance so he jumped in and added that he will take care of the dog all by himself. Which he ha for the past five years after he got Bingo on his ninth birthday. The only thing that bothered him was how they got him. Blazer never brought it up because he was afraid of either losing Bingo or what the answer would be. Blazer walked in the house and saw his mom cleaning the dishes." Hi mom, what do you need?"
She turned off the sink and turned around with her black long hair swirl freely.." I have a surprise for you."
"Cool, what is it?" Blazer pretended to be excited
"Now if I told you there would be no point in a surprise would there?" She did have a point so Blazer just sat in a stool. " Today we are going to the courtyard."
Of course you are. And i will be stuck here. Blazer thought." And you are coming with us."
Blazer spat out the water he was just drinking" I'm sorry i think I heard you wrong"
"No you heard me right."Blazer was so excited but definitely didn't show it.
"When are we going mom?"asked Blazer as he was cleaning the table and floor where the water spilled
"Tomorrow at lunch time, now go and walk Bingo while I prepare food."
"Okay mom." Blazer put the rag he was using in a basket and left the house. Blazer found Bingo gnawing on the stick he threw and pulled out of his mouth."Lets go Bingo, time for a walk."
Bingo barked and Blazer and Bingo walked a bout a quarter mile down the road away from Burg
When Blazer got back home his mom was sitting at the table with his dad. " Hey son, did you hear your surprise." I nodded and Blazer's m motioned him to sit. They all ate and talked about their day. Blazer started with how he wants to write a book and publish it in the kingdom and make thousands of dollars. His mom talked about how they need to make a scarecrow because the crows keep flying by the kitchen window and eat whatever is being cooled on the sill. John agreed to make with Blazer tomorrow before they left and then started talking about how their sales in the marketplaces was increasing. Blazer was the first to finish his mushroom and mashed potatoes. He put his dishes in the sink, said his goodnight and went through a hallway that led to the barn and climbed the ladder that led to his room. Bingo was sleeping on his floor and Blazer regretted teaching him the spots to jump on so he could go up and down as he pleases. Blazer didn't mind it much, just when he slept on his bed. Blazer lifted the covers and stared at the moon. He took off his ruby necklace he got from his dad when he was six. And replaced the sight of the moon with the ruby. The moon shined through making a beautiful light.
"Tomorrow will be the best day ever" Blazer put the necklace on his night stand and closed his eyes. His birthday was tomorrow and he knew that his surprise was going to be big. But then he wondered. His mom said she has a surprise. If going to the kingdom wasn't the surprise, what was?
