• Sollux Captor was an odd ball. He was always left out, made fun of, and teased his whole life. Damn his parents for getting him the weirdest haircut EVER. And unlucky for him, it never changes. Every year no matter who cuts it, it LOOKS THE SAME. To add to that, he had glasses and a lisp. This kid was cursed from day one.
The first morning of college. What a big deal. Sollux had gotten absolutely NO sleep, and wasn’t ready for anything. When he got to class, everyone was already there, of course he was late. The only seat available was next to a short, bitter looking boy.
Oh well, Sollux thought, maybe he’s not that bad…
When Sollux sat down, the bitter kid sighed. Apparently Sollux was wrong; this kid was going to get on his nerves. He decided to talk to the kid to see if they could possibly be friends.
“Hi there, I’m Thollucks Captor.” Sollux said, trying to hide his lisp.
“Go away ******** a**.” The bitter kid responded. Wow, what an a**.
“Ethcuthse me?” Sollux was annoyed, and quite frankly, hurt.
“I said go away ******** a**” The bitter kid was annoying the hell out of Sollux at this point, but Sol prodded at the kid, looking for a name
“I jutht want to now thhhe name of thhhe sthtupid kid who thits netht to me”
Sollux was determined to get a name out of this kid, no matter what he had to do. It seemed like insulting him slightly, did the trick.
“If you MUST know, my name is Karkat Vantas. Now leave me the ******** alone.”
Hey, Sollux thought, At least I got his name.

For some reason, Sol was drawn to this kid, no matter how annoying and bitter he was. There was just something about him that sent shivers down Sol’s spine. He concocted a plan to get closer to Karkat.
The next day, Sollux called in “sick” and got a chance to catch up on his sleep. All of a sudden, there was a loud, harsh knock on his and Tav’s dorm room door. Tavros was in class so Sollux had to get his lazy a** off the futon and get the door.
Four more sharp knocks before Sol got to the door.
“Who thhhe ******** ith it?” Sollux was annoyed with the mystery person. All he wanted to do was go back to bed. ******** this. As he was turning around to go back to bed, a familiar voice yelled,
“DUDE OPEN THE ******** DOOR IT’S KARKAT!”
Oh god. It’s Karkat. Sollux shook his head in sheer amazement. Karkat had ACTUALLY found out where he lived. s**t.
“What do you want dumb ath?” Sollux loved insulting Karkat because he knew it would piss him off.
“DON’T YOU ******** PLAY GAMES WITH ME SOLLUX. I HAVE YOUR ******** CLASSWORK. NOW DO YOU WANT IT OR SHOULD I LET YOU ******** FAIL THAT CLASS ******** a**!?!?” Karkat sounded livid.
    Sol opened the door.
“WHAT THHHE HELL COULD YOU POTHIBLY WANT?”
Karkat paused and stared at Sollux. This was the first time that Sollux had ever yelled at Karkat. Sol got embarrassed, and covered his mouth with his hand in utter shock.
“I’m tho thorry Karkat, I didn’t mean to yell at you…”
He really didn’t. Yelling at Karkat was a big mistake. He felt so guilty for yelling at him. Sollux had a suspicion that under all that hate, was a genuine person, someone who cared, and laughed, and loved.
“It’s okay I guess... Um… Here’s your work, I should really be going…” Karkat looked as if he had been slapped across the face.
“No don’t go… Won’t you come in for a minute? Maybe thit down, have thomething to drink?” Sollux had to make Karkat feel at least a little better. He DID after all, bring Sol his work. Sollux was grateful that Karkat had taken the time to bring him his stuff, and didn’t mean to raise his voice whatsoever.
Sollux offered Karkat a seat and a rockstar. Karkat accepted but didn’t really drink any.
“Why am I here?” Karkat’s voice was soft, but demanding.
Sollux didn’t really KNOW why Karkat was here.
“Karkat I’m tho thorry I didn’t even mean to yell at you.”
Sollux felt like s**t. Karkat was quiet for what seemed like forever, and then spoke.
“Sollux, I know you don’t necessarily LIKE me, but you could at least act like it when I bring you your s**t when you’re quote-on-quote sick. I just didn’t know you’d react like that. I shouldn’t be shocked though-“
Karkat stopped mid-sentence and looked up at Sollux. There was a mix of shock and sadness in his expression.
“Karkat, I never thaid I didn’t like you…” Sollux’s voice trailed off. Maybe it was a mistake letting Karkat in.
All of a sudden, Sollux felt two arms embracing him. Karkat was giving him a hug. Karkat loosened his grip and looked up at Sollux, still hugging him.
“Sollux, I’m the one who should be sorry… I was really mean to you the other day…” Karkat looked so innocent and sweet. AHHHH ********, Sollux thought. You’re falling for this kid aren’t you Sollux? AREN’T YOU? Sollux realized he kinda was. And he was TOTALLY okay with that.
“Iths okay Karkat; we can put thith behind uth right?” Sollux realized they were still hugging…
“Of course Sollux.” And with that, Karkat snuggled into Sollux’s chest, sighed, and uttered,
    “Sol, you’re not a ********.”
    Sollux chuckled softly.
“Karkat? You’re not an ath either okay?”
Karkat just smiled and enjoyed the damn hug.
