• It’s a field, and more fields as far as the eye can see there are no roads, none at all for miles and miles, you have to walk to get out here, so not many people get to see the beauty of it. There are trees, two or three and they are big, they are covered in bright green leaves that rustle in the breeze and make that sound that I love, but they don’t block out all the light, there are patches, warm on your face and hands when you’re lying under the trees, and they are bright. The horizon, the sky, they seem endless as the stretch for miles into the distance, the clear blue of the sky with the cotton candy like clouds, We lay under the sky for hours and watch the clouds flout by, making shapes and faces. The grass, the deep green grass, with dots of flowers here and there, happy colours, red, yellow, pink, they are everywhere and they add so much colour to the scene. The grass is so soft to touch, so inviting to lay on, a bed of green beckoning you to rest, It blows and sways in the breeze along with the flowers, the scene is endless and beautiful, a dream come true, a place between heaven and earth where those who see it are at eternal peace. We rest, through the day, not needing to eat or drink, the scene fills our every need and leaves us breathless. We watch the sun dip slowly, setting the sky ablaze with its orange rays and slowly turning it black. We walk, slowly to the center of the field, the center of nowhere really, we don’t need to hide from the sun as we lay down and watch the stars reveal themselves one by one, it’s amazing, and bright, a cloudless night and a large moon, there are no lights, it’s as if we’ve been cut off from the rest of the world you and I, it’s just us, but there is no need to fill the silence, the stars do that for us, no words we can utter can compare to the vast beauty of the night sky above us. The stars get hard to look at, fuzzing and fading as we look at them to long, our minds pick out the constellations we know the planets we can see and as we sit up to catch our breaths we see not only is the sky alight with points of light but the ground too, all around us fireflies are dancing in the silent air, the colours surround us, I want to catch one, but I dare not disturbed this fragile scene, afraid it could shatter at any moment, We lay back down and the fireflies fly around us, the stars shine above us, and there in that field we sleep, warmed by the still air and blanketed by the night sky above us.
