• Seth and Dawn ran for a long time before finally stopping in an alley way. They were both tired from running, so they decided to rest for a while. Dawn was still trying to decide what she should think of Seth. Seth was still grieving over his step-brothers death at the hands of his best friend. Seth gasped in pain as he grabbed his left shoulder. He had forgotten he had been shot. Dawn took notice and wondered what to do. Finally, she spoke up, "Are you in pain?"
"Well, I got shot about 4 times, so YES, I am in pain.", Seth said while glancing at Dawn.
"Here, let me see.", Dawn said as she began to examine Seth's shoulder.
"Couldn't hurt.", Seth thought as Dawn gave his shoulder a look over. The bullets were deep in his shoulder, at least one had to be on the other side of his body. Suddenly, Dawn tore the left sleeve of Seth's shirt.
"HEY, what're you doing?!", Seth exclaimed.
"I need to wrap the wound and apply pressure or else the bleeding won't stop.", Dawn explained as she tied the sleeve around Seth's shoulder. "Unfortunately, we don't have anything to disinfect or even cauterize the wound so there's going to be a risk of infection."
"...Right.", Seth replied with a very confused tone.

"Get ready, this is going to hurt.", Dawn said as she pressed down on the wound.
"SON OF A- ", Seth cried out before biting down on his right index finger.
"Oh, stop whining, you're tougher than that.", Dawn scolded.
"Whoa, attitude change. I like it.", Seth thought as Dawn stopped pushing on his shoulders.
"Okay, that should do it.", Dawn said. "You're lucky you're a Chimera or else this could have been much worse." Seth was shocked, but he soon figured it out.
"Martin told you, huh?", Seth asked. "Well, I still stand by what I said before. Chimeras are demons, myself included."
    "Shut up.", Dawn abruptly commanded.
Seth was surprised. Up until now, he thought Dawn was simply a weak, timid girl. Now that he thought about it, he never really talked to her until now.
"Those Chimeras that killed my parents, those are demons. But not you. You saved me when nobody else would. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be here right now. Neither of us have anywhere to go now, so we're in this together. You and me? We're friends now. So stop treating yourself like a monster and more like a person.", Dawn said
Seth was amazed. He never expected to ever hear someone call him a normal person. Not even Martin or Max gave him that grace. Seth began to laugh loudly as Dawn stared at him in confusion.
"Alright, we're friends now.", Seth said as he stood up. "We should probably get going."
"Right.", Dawn said, smiling as Seth helped her get up.

Seth suddenly turned his head toward the way they just came.
"What's wrong?", Dawn asked before Seth shushed her. The familar mixed sound of running and radio chatter got closer.
"Dammit, don't these guys ever take a break?", Seth asked himself.
"RUN!", Dawn exclaimed as the duo took off down the alleyway. The two darted down other alleys, across main roads, and through less than obvious paths. But all the while, the Talons chased them. Shots started being fired, which made Seth and Dawn think their pursuers weren't too far behind.
"I thought Chimera's were supposed to be fast!", Dawn cried out.
"Yeah, well it's hard to run when there's several bullets in your shoulder!", Seth replied.
Eventually, after turning a corner into yet another alley, the two came face-to-face with a high stone wall. The soldiers caught up with them, and they were at least ten in number.
"...Dammit.", Seth mumbled as he and Dawn raised their hands in surrender.

The Talons raised their weapons and pointed them directly at Seth and Dawn. A familiar face stepped out from behind the line of soldiers. It was the lieutenant that gave chase to Dawn earlier.
"I said, I got you.", the lieutenant bragged, looking directly at Dawn.
"YOU b*****d!", Dawn yelled, holding back only because of the line of guns pointed at her.
"Men, hold your fire. The girl is mine.", the lieutenant commanded, aiming a revolver at Dawn's head.
Dawn closed her eyes and waited. A gunshot rang out, and Dawn thought it was all over. However, she was still able to breathe, and still standing where she had been. Opening her eyes, she saw the lieutenant drop to the ground, a bullet wound piercing his forehead. As the other soldiers looked on in shock and confusion, a hail of gunfire came from behind them. As the soldiers dropped, three men were revealed to be standing behind them, each of them armed with a machine gun.
"Hey Lynx, nice shot!", the middle man yelled to someone above Seth and Dawn. Seth looked up, and saw a woman with a sniper rifle waving down at the man.
"Hey, you kids alright?", the man asked.
Seth immediately raised his guard again. "Who are you?", he asked.
The man stared back with a puzzled look before laughing heartily. "Why, we're the Resistance, kid!"
