• "Don't worry you'll do fine at this new school. It might even turn out to be fun." her father reassured her. "Yeah right." Nikki muttered to herself, staring out the window of the car. Starting high school was hard enough as that, but at a place that reminded her of a boarding school? And to top that off, it was one of those schools where everyone who's mentally off, or as her counselors and dad called it, for "gifted minds" such as hers. She sighed. Oh, this week is just getting better and better.
Her dad slowed the car down in front of the school. He sat in his seat, silently thinking for a moment, before turning around and smile nervously at her. "Listen Nik," he began. "If this school doesn't help you out or give you the proper education you need, we'll just find another one. Simple as that." he said trying for a casual tone but failing. There weren't anymore schools they could enroll in that were close by. He couldn't leave his job, they needed him. She had to put aside her personal feelings and try to do well and/or try to 'like' this school. At least keep it professional. She nodded and smiled. "It's ok dad, I'll be fine." she said getting out of the car. "Cya later!" she chirped with as much enthusiasm as she could muster. She walked toward the front doors of the school and stopped. The outside of it resembled a castle or fortress of some kind. "Dungeons and Dragons ain't got nothing on this place," she muttered and walked inside.
The hallways were a shiny beige color, which she usually didn't see in regular schools and the walls were light brown. It strangely reminded her of a corporal office for some reason, though she'd never seen one before. She laughed silently. Get your head together and find the principal for your class schedule, she thought to herself as she walked down the hallway. She looked at every door that she passed that had a sign with the words: Gym, English, Science, and Math, plastered on it. Finally after walking up a series of stairs, she came across a door with:Principal's office under the translucent window. Here we go... she thought and knocked on the door. Then she heard the scream.
    To be continued...
