• Jamie new she would never see his face again, and she didn’t care.
She stood there and watched as he fell to his death; the corners of her mouth turning up in a smile. She turned around, wiped off her sword that was stained with his blood, and headed toward the exit. She wasn’t proud of what she did, at least, not this time. But that was her job, get rid of the untouchables before they could overtake the world. Untouchables had special powers of controlling the earth and water. She never imagined that this kill would be so hard. She tricked him into loving her so he would get close enough for her to kill him. But had she really fallen in love with him? No. She answered herself. She had fallen in love with the idea of being in love. A stupid mistake that was easily fixed.
Once outside and on the streets of New York City, she did her best to blend in. She could feel the handle of her sword brushing against her waist under her black trench coat, and was glad that her coat was long enough to hide the sword. Most people didn’t walk around with swords these days, most people carried guns. Jamie, however, preferred a sword to any gun. Swords didn’t make as much noise as a gun did. Jamie kept glancing around, afraid that someone was following her; but each time she looked, she saw no one. She turned the corner and found herself in a familiar ally. She let out a sigh of relief as she reached her hideout and opened the door. She turned on the lights and walked into the living room, coming to a halt when she realized that a man sat on her couch.
“Who are you?” Jamie asked, grabbing the handle of her sword with her hand; prepared to take action if she must.
“You don’t remember me?” His voice sounded sincere. Jamie looked him over, trying to figure out who this man was. He had soft green eyes and long curly brown hair that reached his shoulders. He was wearing a black t-shirt, a brown leather jacket, dirty blue jeans, and black biker boots. She felt as if she had seen him before, but nothing came to mind. No name, no memories, nothing.
“No. Now how did you get into my house?” She demanded, grasping onto the handle tighter.
“I happen to have a key.” The stranger said, holding out a key that looked exactly like her house key.
“How did you get that?” Jamie asked, wanting answers more than anything at the moment.
“You gave it to me. You honestly don’t remember who I am?” He asked again, the expression on his face going from calm to pained.
“No, so I’ll ask you again, who are you?” She asked, growing frustrated.
“My name is Tommy. I’m your brother.” Tommy said, putting his hands in his coat pockets and looking at the wooden floor.
“Nice try, but I don’t have a brother.” She said, glaring at him with pure anger. He broke into her house, she wanted answers; and all he was giving her was lies.
“Yeah, you do. You just don’t remember it. When you were about twenty you met a guy named Falcon, right?” Tommy asked, looking at her right in the eyes.
“How do you know that name?” Jamie asked, her eyes growing wide at the sound of Falcon’s name. Falcon was one of the first untouchables that she had fought. Unfortunately he ended up knocking her out and escaping before she could finish the job. She hasn’t heard of him since.
“He’s the one who erased you memories by knocking you out. Ever wonder why you can’t remember anything before fighting Falcon? That’s his doing. He is the reason you don’t remember me.”
    “So?”
“A problem has come up. Falcon is back. This time he is after one thing.”
“And that would be….?” Jamie was starting to get angry again. She wanted to beat the answered out of him.
    “You.”
The words were like blades against her skin. Falcon was back and he was back for blood. Not just anyone’s blood, but her blood. Great.
“So what are we waiting for? If you are who you really say you are then let’s get going.” She said as she headed for the door.
“Wait just a minute, headquarters wants to make sure you understand something.” Tommy said, handing her a note from the president of headquarters himself: Mr. Guy. Headquarters was where the assignments were handed out, and where the hunters (as they were called) reported to when they were called. They were behind the killings of the untouchables.
Jamie read the note that explained that Mr. Guy wanted this assignment done and completed by this Friday. He didn’t want this mission dragging on and on. Great, She thought to herself, this gives us a day. Thanks for the head’s up Mr. Guy.
“Well then,” She said, handing the note back to Tommy, “We’d better get started. Where is he hiding?”
“Two blocks away.” Tommy said, trying to hold in a laugh.
“Are you serious? He’s been two blocks away this entire time and they are just telling me now?!” She threw her hands up in the air, “Are you kidding me?”
“We were surprised you haven’t found him earlier.” Tommy laughed.
“Great. Well c’mon, “She grumbled, “Let’s get going.”
They both set out, swords at hand, to find Falcon. She hoped they could beat him this time, instead of letting him get away. She had her doubts though. They walked in silence to the old rundown apartment building that Headquarters told them Falcon was hiding, and walked in. Quietly climbing the stairs, they searched everywhere for Falcon, with to luck. They finally reached to roof when they heard a mischievous laughter coming from behind them. They whirled around and spotted Falcon leaning against the doorway of the exit. Falcon looked really old now, a lot older than what Jamie could remember. His short light brown hair made it possible to see the scar he had over his right eye that cut trough his eyebrow. He was wearing black sweat pants, a white t-shirt and black sneakers; He smiled cruelly when he saw that he had their attention.
“What do we have here? Two agents from Headquarters? Ah, I see we’ve met before. Nice to see you again Tommy.” He paused as he looked at Jamie, but only for a moment. “Jamie.” He nodded.
“Look, I want to get this over with, so can we cut the chat and just get to the fighting? I want to be home before the sun comes up.” Jamie said, annoyed. Why did the bad guys always feel the need to talk before the big fight?
“And miss this opportunity to catch up?” He laughed and shook his head, “As you wish.” He laughed once more and then the ground beneath her began to tremble violently. She took out her sword, watching as Tommy did the same, and rand towards Falcon; trying to keep her balance. There wasn’t any earth up here, so the best Falcon could do was cause an earthquake; which was nothing compared to what they could do. Tommy ran behind him and Jamie kept running straight. Falcon’s expression went from determined, to pure anger. He tried making the earthquake larger; to throw them off balance, but it didn’t succeed. One of the great gifts of being born a hunter was that her balance was exceptionally good. Hunters, like untouchables, had special powers as well. Whether it be good balance, speed, or knowledge. Falcon yelled a roar of anger as she started to circle Falcon, Tommy following her lead. Falcon had nowhere to go, and he new it. The fear in his eyes made that clear. Jamie made the first move and stabbed the sword into his heart. Falcon let out a roar of pain, and Tommy finished him off by stabbing Falcon through the heart with his bade as well. Falcon howled in pain once more, and fell; face first, onto the concrete. It was done. Jamie looked over at Tommy and smiled, getting up from where she knelt and walking over to him to help him up. They called Headquarters to take care of the body and then they headed back home. Jamie looked back at Falcon’s dead body, relieved that Falcon was finally gone. That the man who destroyed her memories was destroyed as well.
She could fall asleep, happy for once.
