• I was in my room when I heard those two knocks that would change my life forever. As soon as I heard them, I rushed downstairs, taking two steps at a time on the staircase. I paused at the door, closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and smiled brightly. I opened the front door and kept my gaze on the boy in front of me.
“Hey, Jasselynn.” He said, smiling at me.
“Hi Chace.” I replied, grinning nervously. Was he finally going to ask me to a dance? After three years of waiting, was he finally going to make my dreams come true?
“So…you’re probably wondering what I’m doing here.” He said. Ah, well, obviously. I laughed a little.
“Well, yeah. What’s up?” Oh, I sounded so lame right now.
“I want to take you to the junior prom, this Friday.”
“Oh. Well, I’d love to go with you.” I kept my face calm and slightly happy. However, the inside of me was screaming with delight. Finally he asked me, oh finally! I grinned and looked into his eyes. But what I saw in those eyes made me suddenly want to take my words back. He burst out laughing, and had to steady himself. I felt tears glisten in my eyes. So, this was all a joke; him asking me and all. I felt so angry and I wanted to slap him across the face so badly right now. I hadn’t even noticed the car he came in. I realized whose car it was as soon as I looked at it. It belonged to Eric Fairlander, the prankster in our school. Oh gawd, I hate that kid so much. I slammed the door in Chace’s face, and ran upstairs into my room. I was so mortified. How could they do this to me? I buried my face in my pillow and lay there on my bed, feeling stupid and pathetic.
