• The cars engine roared and the sound of bags banging around in the seat next to a child was heard.
“Sorry Miss. The road is really bumpy.” the driver called to the child. She looked at him and just nodded, Stupid Humans she thought to herself and cracked a small smile before it quickly disappeared. She looked at the trees branches of large oaks sway in the wind. How could something so strong move so easily, she thought? Her driver voice soon interrupted her train of thought.
“Miss Sterling, we just pulled up to the place you requested. You sure you want to get out here? There is nothing but trees and I hate for you to carry so many bags,” he said eyeing many bags next to the girl. Why would one girl need so much stuff just to go into the woods?
The girl rolled her eyes behind her sunglasses and opened the door. The driver saw what she was getting out and swung open his door and ran around the car to help her and her bags. She felt his presence and held up her hand in a way to make him stop. He stopped and looked at her, something about her was captivating, and maybe he thought it was her mysterious appearance and lack of saying anything. She grabbed all of her bags in one try, she laughed mentally at the driver’s shock. She set the load down and dug around inside of her small purse. She took out a small wad of cash and the driver slowly outstretched a hand and took the cash. Bowing to her, he returned to his side of the car.
“Thank you Miss. Have a safe-“he stopped not knowing what to say. He turned and looked out the window trying to wrap his brain around what he should say to her. Then turned and looked out the window, where once the girl and her baggage stood was now gone. He sputtered a few words of shock then drove off in silence. What a strange little girl.
