• "Hey, wake up." I opened my eyes and realized I was spread out on a couch, a blanket tossed over me. Alainna was asleep on the adjacent couch. Looking up, I saw Slade sitting on the narrow strip of the couch between me and the edge, leaning on his knees, looking back at me. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. "Uh...hey." I muttered. He nodded at me and looked away. "How long was I out?" "About three days." "What?!" Slade grinned at me. "I'm only joking." "Oh." I sat in silence for a minute. "Where are we?" "the house of Ian's brother. He's a human, but he doesn't mind us."

After Ann had screamed I had been awoken, and fell off the coach with a very loud thud. "Ow what the heck? Where am I?" I said while rubbing my head which had broken my fall quite effectively. "Oh hello there," this young man with dark, brown, short hair opposite of what Ian's looks like, but at the same time he looked like Ian a bit. "Oh Alainna your up! Why are you on the floor?" Ian asked me quizzically. "I fell off the coach, which usually doesn't happen unless something extremely loud can wake me," I had said looking over in Ann's direction while she talked to Slade. "Well you must be able to sleep like a rock then eh. Oh Alainna I'd like you to meet my brother his name is............."

I glanced over then and saw Alainna and Ian, with another man who was just a tiny bit taller then Ian, with glasses and darker hair. "Who is that?" I asked quietly. The man turned my way, as if he had supersonic hearing. "My name is Lawrence. Ian here is my little knucklehead of a brother." With this he swept Ian into a noogie, and Slade smirked. the two began to speak to Alainna then. I turned to Slade. "Are you an only child?" After my question, after a moment of pause, he spoke. "I have a brother. Dante. He's a demon like me." "Where is he?" "I don't know." he glanced at me. "What about you?" "I don't know where he is either." "I meant, are you an only child?" I nodded. "I am so happy that I am, too!" He smiled. "It's not that bad, though."

"Lawrence huh? Ian why did you take us here?" I asked him. "Well I'm not quite sure if the Daemon hunters know about this place, and my brother so me and Slade decided it'd be safest while you two were asleep. "Oh ok," I said while glancing over. "Why haven't you told me that you had a brother? I mean your a Fallen right."

Lawrence set his hands on his hips. "Technically, we're adopted brothers. I had no idea he was a Fallen." I nodded. "That would make more sense."

"Really? So then would that make you human, or anything like that Lawrence?" I asked him because he said he had no idea that Ian was a Fallen so I just thought he was one. "Well tecnaclly you could say I have some sort of power, thar wouldn't make me human." He said rubbing the backmof his neck, and grinning. "Like what?" I said challenging him to tell us.

Slade and I sat in silence for a while. I looked at his features, at his eyes and hair, and felt my face flushed. I'll put it simply. He was drop-dead-gorgeous, except for a small bump on his nose that revealed it had once been broken. Slade frowned. "Are you sick? Your face is beet red." "I'm fine!" I blurted. "Look over there at that mildly interesting thing!!" I pointed at a random thing then. He blinked without amusement. "Nope, you're fine."

"Ok then! How about a game of 20 questions then if you can't get it I'll tell you," He told me with a sly grin. "Ok fine, it's a challenge." I said back hitting the coach. "I should tell you Alainna Lawrence can be pretty sly on how he will tell you," Ian said glancing back at me out the corner of his eye, while looking at a book. "Ok then. Lawrence, can you fly lke Ian?" I said turning back to him. "Nope not at all," he said looking at me boredly," One question down, nineteen to go." He said smiling.

I threw the cover off of me (for the first time noticing that there WAS a blanket on me) and sat up. Slade watched me warily. "Where are you going?" "I honestly don't know." Lawrence turned for a second. "Do you need something?" I blinked. "Do you have any chocolate?" Slade did a facepalm as the man looked at him questioningly. Slade grimaced. "It's best to just tell her." "In the kitchen, top shelf of the fridge. Help yourself." "Bless you," I dipped my head to him, grabbed Slade's wrist, and dragged him into the kitchen. He leaned against the counter watching me in amusement. As I ripped open the wrapped of a hershey's bar, he shook his head. "Really?" "It speeds the recovery process," I assured him, breaking off a piece and holding it out to him. He shook his head again. I waved it around. "You know you want it..." He glared at me, eyes flashing crimson. "You are a cruel girl." he murmured, snatching the chocolate out of my hands. "I know."

"Aw man too bad," I said disappointedly. "Ok Alainna what's going to be your next question?" He said looking at his nails, and smiling. That's when I noticed something about his appearance. "Lawrence you wouldn't happen by chance change into like a fuzzy animal of some sort now would you," I said while I watched his face for a reaction. His eyebrow suddenly twitched, and then he raised them. Ian even look a bit curious about what I had just said. "And your theory is coming from what?" He questioned me like I was a criminal. "Oh I don't know those sharp canine teeth I saw when you were smiling. It's either that or I'm just a really good guesser I said grinning like the mad fool I could be.

As I scarfed down the chocolate I suddenly choked, and started to pound on my own chest. Slade was just stepping towards me to help when I was able to breathe again, waving him away. "I'm fine," I squeaked. He patted my back awkwardly. "Alright. Maybe you should-" he moved to take the candy bar away but at my murderous glare he backed off. I finished eating in silence and then looked up at him. "Is there anything to do around here?" Slade turned, looking around the room. "Let's just say that this Lawrence is a tad boring," he said, grabbing my hand. "And rejoin him and Alainna." my face flushed as I looked down at our hands. "Um...Slade..." He looked down as well, and his eyebrows jumped. "Oh, um...sorry." He snatched his hand away and his face flushed, looking away. "Um...let's go back." "Alright."

"Fine your on the right track," He said then smiling, "Hey Ian you finally found a girl with some brains, and spunk!" He said looking at Ian who was sitting on the arm of the coach I was sitting on. "Uhm yeah I guess so," Ian said blushing a bit, and looking at his feet. "So let me guess Lawrence you’re a werewolf right?" I said with a little glint in my eyes. "You just have to be a party pooper with a fun game like 20 questions don't ya?" Lawrence had said eyeing me with a bit a of a glare. "You betcha," I said smiling. "Yeah well I think I'm going to check something in my room I'll be back," Lawrence said getting up, and heading down a hallway. Leaving me, and Ian in the living room.

Just then, something thunked into the window. I whirled around and saw a bird fall to the ground. "Oh!" I tore away from Slade and ran outside, screeching to a stop. Slade stumbled into me after a quick stop didn't work as planned. "What is it?" "A bird!" I scooped up the bird gently in my hands and stood, holding it, feeling a warm breeze. "Oh...I don't think I can do anything..." My stomach churned as I watched the bird swivel its head slowly. It was dying. Slade stepped forward then, and slowly set his hands over mine. A soft blue light spread out from inbetween, glittering and unfolding. My breath caught. After a moment the light faded, and Slade moved his hands. The bird hopped up and jumped from out hands, flitting into the air. I watched it leave in amazement. "So that's what you can do." I breathed. Slade touched his chest anxiously, face dark as he looked away. "Yes." I turned and hugged him. "Thanks." He jerked in shock, and then hugged me quickly before pulling away, face flushed. "What's with you and hugging...?" he muttered. "I don't think you had enough as a child," I explained, grinning. "I'm making up for lost time."

There had been an awkward silence between me, and Ian till he broke it. "So are you feeling better Alainna?" He asked me with concern. "Yep, I'm actually totally fine. When did I fall asleep? I don't remember it, last time we were flying, and then I woke up in here," I said thinking of what happened that night with the Daemon Hunters. "Oh well actually you fell asleep right before we got here while I was still flying," Ian said, and flipped his hair. That's when I saw something on his eye that I hadn't noticed. "Ian what's that on you eye?" I said getting up, and pushing his hair back. " Well uhm it's a scar I had gotten back when I was younger. I was actually caught by a Daemon Hunter, and well they did that," Ian said turning his face so I could see it better, and because he sounded a bit ashamed to have been caught. I think I even saw him blush a bit. "Can you still see out of it?" I asked looking up at him concerned. "Just a tiny bit, but I've found ways to cope," He told me smiling down at me. "I'm glad about that," I said giving him a reassuring smile.

Slade rolled his eyes, face flushed. "You're an odd human." I crossed my arms in mock anger. "Well, you're an odd demon. You're the toughest guy I've ever seen and you have the gift to heal. Very cool, very ironic." "Very cliche," Slade added. I shook my head. "Hey, I write. I know cliche when I see it." He cocked one eyebrow. Out of nowhere, I yelled, "makeover time!!" slade was just starting to run when I grabbed him and dragged him to a random bedroom I found, making him stand awkwardly as I rifled through the closet. I threw him a leather jacket, white t-shirt, black pants, and shiny black shoes. "Go change!!" Slade turned over the things in his hands. "My my, you are bored, aren't you, Ann?" "Yes, I am." I then shoved him out of the room so that he could go change, and I waited, sitting on the bed. The door opened and I turned to see Lawrence, eyes wide. "Why are you in my room?" I blinked. "I'm totally bored." "Ah." he turned and left without another word, and then Slade walked in after a minute, looking calm cool and collected. I handed him some sunglasses and he slipped them on. "You're just lucky I'm as bored as you are." He muttered.
