• It was a Sunday morning, the clouds had parted after a week of heavy rain, and sunlight fell upon the world in heavenly beams. Angels sang. Church bells chimed merrily. Abigail left him.

Jeremy, an awkward man a few years into his adulthood, sat on the bottom step of the stairs, the emptiness of the apartment he now shared with no one weighing heavily on his shoulders. He fed uncooked instant ramen noodles to Panda, an overweight tabby cat with the mental capacity of a walnut.

“She’ll be sorry, Panda,” he said darkly, glaring at the closed door that she had slammed only fifteen minutes earlier. Yes, someday she would be sorry. Years from now, after she had marries some rich man, and had a string was beautiful blond babies, she would stumble over his blog post. She would weep in guilt over having left him! Jeremy dropped his head. “She isn’t come back, is she?”

Panda mewed and watched the bag that held the magical ramen. She watched as the bag fell, crashed to the floor, and spread the chewy bits on the carpet. She was mostly unaware of Jeremy as he stood and trudged up the stairs. The loud bang startled her, but the lack of any immediate danger caused it to slip away into the void of her mind.

    Magical ramen.

    Om-nom-nom.
