• How do I tell him, Celvia wondered. She was trying to figure out how to tell her best friend that she was madly in love with him. She walked down the school hallway, careful not to run into any of the people at their lockers. She was heading to her 2nd period biology class, where she just so happens to have Damien as her lab partner, who, by the way, is her best friend that she fell head over heels for. Her black hair flowed behind her, her green eyes were the color of a promising spring when she was happy but when she was worried, mad, or sad gray would creep into them and make them look unattractive. . . to her. She hurried past people hoping that this time she would get there before him. It was a little quarrel between them, they both had issues about being the first. When she walked in she sighed. He was sitting in the seat next to her's, grinning at the door knowing she would be there any minute, after him. His blonde hair was messy as if he couldn't sleep for some disturbing reason. His smile lit up his brown eyes that were the color of mud. . . in an attractive way.
"I'm first, again." he teased as she sat down.
"Yeah, you've been first since the begining of school." she muttered.
"Oh you'll get over it." he smiled but when he saw that she wasn't smiling and her eyes had gray brimmed around them, then he thought of something. I guess I could lose purposally tomorrow for her, he thought. His thinking was interrupted was interrupted as Samantha walked in. Her brown hair was nicely flattened and pouring down her shoulders. Her violet eyes flickered to Damien and without reason his heart stuttered. As if she heard him she smiled and hurried to her seat.
"Wow." Damien breathed and Celvia turned to him.
"What? Samantha? Please don't tell me you're just like all of the rest of the guys, drooling over her." she moaned.
"N-no, of course not." he replied quickly. He looked at Celvia. This time her eyes were the darkest he has ever seen then. You could barely tell if there was any green in them.
    "Are you sad?" he asked.
    "No." she answered.
    "Are you mad?"
    "No."
    "Are you worried?"
Of course I'm worried, I'm worried about losing you to Samantha, she thought. She wanted to say it aloud but instead she just shook her head. He was about to try to force the truth out of her but the teacher walked in and they started class.

After Biology was lunch which isn't the best combination considering you just dissected something and now you're going to eat. Celvia grabbed her plate and sat next to Ellie, another friend of hers.

    . . . . . Continuing in 1st person . . . . .

"Have you talked to Damien yet?" she asked.
"No, he's too caught up in Samantha." I replied rolling my eyes.
"No way, is he seriously?!" she asked in astonishment.
"Yup, he made it perfectly clear, just as he is now." I said staring straight at Damien who was walking towards us but Samantha stepped right in front of him and started up a conversation. He smiled and glanced to me. I gave a slight wave and his smile dropped a bit. He's going to go sit with her and my wave made him feel guilty, I thought. I watched him walk off and sit down at a different table beside Samantha. There were a lot of jocks at the table and I know he feels uncomfortable, it's written all over his face. But the jocks don't notice it; of course, they've never been the best readers.
"He did not seriously go sit with that pompous girl and those hot jocks." Ellie gaped. I nodded and shook my head.
"I'm not hungry anymore." I mumbled as I stood up. I saw Damien stare straight at me as I walked over to the trash can and threw all of my perfectly untouched food away. He looked concerned, and I knew why. I normally always eat my food, in fact, I even play with it. I sat back down and buried my face in my arm that I rested on the table.
"Being in love sucks, especially if it makes it to where you don't want to eat." Ellie said placing a hand on my shoulder. I sighed and lifted my head and turned to my normally cheery friend.
"Yup, so don't fall in love." I smiled slightly.
"Too late, Aarik has stolen my heart, oh god look at his body." she swooned. I laughed and pushed her playfully.
"Look out, you're drooling." I teased. She laughed and pushed me back. I turned back to the table that Damien was sitting at and froze. Another jock Ryan was staring straight at me. When he noticed he caught my attention he blushed and turned away. I saw Ellie get up and throw her tray away. When she sat back down I turned to her.
"I just witnessed a football player blush." I said proudly. That was a big thing, they normally don't blush. The only time when their faces are red is after a game or practice.
"Oh my gosh, really? Who was it?" she asked.
    "Ryan, number 23." I replied.
    "Do you why he blushed?"
"No, all I did was look at him and he turned away and blushed, it was crazy."
    "I bet he likes you."
"No he doesn't." I replied quickly.
"I mean, it makes sence. You're really pretty." she said.
"Do you really think so?" I asked. She nodded and I smiled. She was always there for me. She has been since kindergarten when we met on the playground. She kicked me in the face while I was running behind the swings and she was swinging on one. Ah, sweet memories.
"Ryan's looking at you again." she whispered. I looked over again and sure enough he was looking at me again. I smiled and waved. He blushed and waved back and then turned away.
"I told you he likes you, you can see it every time he looks you in the eyes." Ellie said proudly.
"I guess you're right." I smiled. At least one guy likes me.

Weeks had passed and it was the same everyday. Except Damien didn't even consider sitting with us anymore, he always sits at the popular table next to Samantha. He also stopped going to the movies with me every Tuesday. We used to go all the time, just so we can annoy the people in front of us until we get thrown out. It's weird how they know it's me and Damien, yet they still let us back in so we can do it again. I sighed remembering how much fun we had, before he fell for Samantha. I pulled my science book out of my locker and then slammed it shut.
"Whoa, looks like somebody's PMSing." Ellie teased as she approached me. I smiled a little and began to walk away before a ran right into someone. All my stuff and their stuff fell to the floor and mixed together. I looked up to my victim. It was Ryan. It took him 1.3 seconds to notice it was me and he was on the floor picking everything up.I bent down to help but he already had picked it up and seperated everything. I ran my head into his.
"I'm sorry, I ran into you twice. Once with my head the other a full collision." I apologized.
"No problem." he smiled. I smiled back and walked off, except it was in the exact opposite direction of where I was supposed to go. I turned back around and walked the right way, knowing I looked like a complete idiot. Ellie followed quickly behind me.
"Oh my gosh, you just ran into one of the hottest guys on the football team." she whispered as I entered the classroom. She departed to go to Home Economics while I was stuck in Biology with Damien, and a broken heart. He was already in the classroom, in the seat next to mine. Samntha was sitting on his side of the table smiling down at him. They were clearing having a nice conversation, so I ended it. I slammed my books down on the table causing Samantha to nearly fall off the table. Damien jerked up out of his slouching position and turned to Samanth, who I think was freaking out over a broken nail. But, I stopped paying attention when I notice something in the stack of papers that Ryan retrieved from our mishapp. It was a paper with his name at the top. I guess he got it mixed up with mine. I glanced up at the clock. It read 12:32. Class doesn't start for another 13 minutes. I pulled it out of the stack and walked out of the classroom. He was waiting there beside the door frame.
"I think you got this mixed up." I smiled handing it to him.
"Thanks Celvia." he smiled. I was about to walk off before he stopped me.
"Hey, I was wondering if you had any plans this weekend."
I stood there frozen. Did he just ask me out?
    "Uh, no. Actually, I don't." I blinked.
"Would you like comin to the football game with me?'
"Like a date?" I asked. Suprise took over his face and he blushed deeply.
"Uh, yeah. I mean if you don't wanna go then-"
"No, I would love to go." I smiled. He blushed even deeper, if that's possible.
"I'll see you then." I smiled again and walked off into the classroom. Damien was staring at me instead of paying attention to Samantha, for once. I sat down and smiled to myself. My smiled disappeared when I listened into their conversation.
"So, Damien? Are you going to the football game?"
    "Yeah."
"Do you have anyone to go with you?"
    "Nope."
"Would you like to take me?"
    "Sure."
I wasn't sure if it was because he didn't care or if he didn't want to go but he kept his answers really short. Well, now I'm going to see him this Friday, or to be more accurate, tommorow.
Lunch came rather quickly, of course I couldn't stop thinking of Ryan. I now was sitting at my table munching on a fry. I'd steal glances at him whenever I got the chance. A couple of times he was looking at me too. Once I winked at him and he started choking. I was laughing so hard it hurt. Maybe I'll like Ryan better than Damien.
"Hey Celvia." I heard a voice say. I looked up and instantly regreted it.
    "Hey Damien." I replied.
"I was wondering if I could stop by your house after school today."
I sat there wondering if I was hearing things. After I noticed he was still waiting I knew I wasn't.
"Uh, yeah, sure." I said. He nodded and walked off. I loved the way his bookbag strap was slung over one shoulder. It just made him look, "cool". Which was not the Damien I knew. I sighed and picked myself up off the school bench. I don't even remember how I got there. I simply walked down the hallway to the exit doors. What had he meant by after school? The after school bell had already rung. Another question, What was he still doing here? A better question, Why was I still here? And what sucks is that I have none of those answers.

I sighed as I pulled into my driveway. I wanted to see Ryan so badly. I couldn't wait for Friday. I got out of my car and walked to my front door. There was a note taped there.

    Dear Sweetie,
I'll be home shortly. I went out for groceries. If I'm not back by 9:30 then there's something wrong. You can have a friend over if you want, but don't go anywhere. See ya later.
    XOXOXOXOXOXOX

    Love,
    Mom
I took the note down and went inside. I threw my bookbag down next to the door and walked into the kitchen. I was so busy thinking about Ryan I only ate a couple of fries. I made a bowl of cereal and sat down on the couch. After I was done I laid down on the couch and thought about Ryan. But the last person that was on my mind before a fell completely asleep was Damien.

Three loud knocks on the door woke me up. I jumped off the couch and flung open the door. Damien was standing there with his hands in his pockets.
"Uh, hey." he smiled. It was a small smile but it made my heart lurch forward. No, no, no, not while I'm just starting to move on, I thought.
"So, what do you want?" I asked. He looked hurt from my sharp tone, but he was the last one I wanted to see right now.
"I wanted to know if you would be at the football game." he said running his fingers through his hair nervously. There goes my poor heart again. Couldn't he give it a break?
"You know d*** well that I'm going, now what do you really want?" I asked irritatedly.
"I'm sorry okay." he said sharply. I took a step back, suprised. My anger was officially wiped away.
"For what?" I asked in a softer tone. He didn't look angry anymore, he looked kind of sad.
"For ditching you and then never coming back. I just wanted to feel like a somebody, you know, have friends. And once I got a taste of that I never wanted to go back." he said quietly. I felt this burning inside of me.
"You had friends, me and Ellie. But you left us for some b**** and those ding dongs that follow her around like sick puppy dogs!" I shouted. I couldn't help it. This whole time he's had me and Ellie by his side and now he said he didn't have friends.
"Excuse me, I'm not the one who's hanging all over one of them like a total s***!" he shouted back. I teared up.
"So that's what you think of me now?" I asked, my voice cracking. He looked at me confused and then pitifully.
"No, that's not what I meant I just thought, that-" he looked down at the porch.
    "Thought that what?"
"That maybe you'd like me if I was popular, if I was like the people that you and Ellie drool over everyday, and I thought that if I got Samantha to like me you'd get jealous and, I don't know, compete." he said in a whisper. My mouth opened slightly. That's why?! He wanted to make me jealous?!
"I liked you as what you'd call a "no body". Those guys that I stated I liked were just cover ups. I liked you the whole time."
This time his mouth dropped open. "I-I didn't know."
"Yeah? Well, you had all this time to figure it out." I said coldly and shut the door in his face. Before it closed I caught a glimpse of his bloodshot eyes and the tears begining to form. I'm positive I looked like that too. I turned around, placed my back against the door and let the tears pour.
