• Prologue

I write of my travels so that everyone knows it really happened, may my journal be lost in time, dimensions, or even worlds, but may it always be known. It did happen, because I lived it, I saw it happen, and I suffered through it. So share my journey with your friends. Stow it away then read it to your grandchildren. Share it in any way, just let it be known that it happened, and that it is true. My name is Elizabeth Andrea Pawmlinson, and this is my story.

    Dear Diary,
Today is my 18th Birthday. I am the royal princess of Jewlstone and am to be married in just one week. I do not wish to be married, I wish to have an adventure, and live my life to the fullest! My entire life I’ve been trapped here in this kingdom, always having to do what I was told, It was always; “Elizabeth, sit up straight!” “Elizabeth, put on your tiara!” And of course “Elizabeth, get off the table!” Oh how father hated when I would chase the farm animals, or bring home a wild unicorn after an outing with my siblings when I was young. He also hated when I would perform spells with Angela. My Father is ashamed of the fact that I have powers, but my mother, she was so proud that she had a witch in her Family. In fact that’s why she hired Angela, my dear, dear friend.
My mother made me this journal so I could write of my adventures through life. She always knew that I could and would go far. I loved my mother, for she was the only one that understood me. We did everything together, she told me stories of brave knights and beautiful faeries, we would do that every night… that is until she went missing. I may have to get married, and I may not like it, but somehow, some way… I will find my mother.

    Dear Diary,
Today I spent some time in the stables. I rode my favorite horse; Buttercup. Buttercup and I rode for miles upon miles. We rode so far we didn’t even know where we were by the time we stopped. But we came across a beautiful stream in the forest. I swear I must have been sitting there just staring at the scenery for 10 minutes, it was so beautiful. There were little ducklings, a few frogs and then I thought I heard singing! I got curious and decided to walk down the stream and see if it led to something bigger. It did and just as I suspected, I saw a mermaid! They say that mermaids only appear in beautiful places like that one. We conversed for several hours. Her name was Almia, she said it was a family name, I thought it was just beautiful! She loved where she lived and said she had never met someone like me before (a princess), but then I really amazed her and showed her some of my magic, it was just something simple, but she thought it was amazing. I asked her if she could perform magic too, she told me that it was actually very rare for a mermaid to be able to perform magic other than simple things such as their ability to change, she broke off there, I still wonder what she could change into… perhaps a human? Or maybe a fish… well either way, I still think that it’s completely amazing that I got to meet her. I think I will return there tomorrow.
After returning home my father was very upset with me, I told him what had happened and of course he didn’t believe me. He sent me to my bed chamber and told me I had to “Shape up!” for I was to meet my future husband tomorrow. I am not looking forward to meeting my “Betrothed”.
