• “Hey Alex” I call to my friend. He comes jogging toward me. Alex has light brown hair and intense blue eyes. He’s a total math-wiz and a great friend. Alex is also a great LOOKING friend, but back to the conversation “Hey Ivy. Love the new hair-do. It look’s hot on you” Alex has liked me since first grade and is always flirting. “That’s sweet Alex, but remember, just friends.” I say, laughing. “Hey, I guy can dream” he says, holding his hands up. I start laughing again. Alex is a great friend, but I don’t really date guys all that much anymore. I touch his shoulder. He look’s down at my hand. “Just friends” I say, hugging him. I can feel his eyes watching me as I walk away to first period.

BRIIIIIIING!!! The lunch bell sounds and everyone runs out of the classroom. I gather up my books and start walking out the door. Someone’s binder is on the floor. I trip and fall to my knees, dropping my folders and books on the ground. “Oh, I’m so sorry” Someone says from behind me, “It’s ok, nothing broken” I said. The person, and from his voice, a guy, laughs. I look around the corner. A boy, probably new in school, considering I don’t know him, is kneeling down. My blue eyes open wider than I ever thought they could. He was the cutest guy I’ve ever met in my whole life. He had blonde hair, falling in layers on his head, and stunning green eyes. “Hey, I’m Ivy, you must be new” I said, holding out my hand. “Romeo,” He answers, taking my hand.

    Defiantly…

I think, staring dreamily at him. “Oh, well I better go, lunch doesn’t last forever” I stammered, brushing a blonde bang and tucking it behind my ear. “Yeah, me too. Um, do you want to sit together?” Romeo asks. “I’d love to,” I say quickly, smiling. “Great” he says, holding my hand and pulling me up.

We walked to lunch together, me smiling the whole way, and Romeo moving his hand closer to mine every minute. On our way there, I see Alex in the hall. I quickly duck my head, who knows how upset he’ll get if he see’s me with another guy.
Apparently my luck has run out for the day, Alex see’s me anyway, and runs toward us. “Hey Ivy, who’s your friend?” He asks coldly. “Oh, this is Romeo; he’s new at our school” I stammered. “Hey Man. Got’ a great girl to show you around” Alex said sourly. “Sure do, Ivy seems great.” He says, looking at me. ‘You have no idea” Alex said, looking at me too. “Come on Romeo, we better get to lunch” I said, looking at my shoes. “I’ll come with you!” Alex says, running after us.
When we got our lunches, I see all my friends at our popular table, waving at me. I start running toward them and both boys follow up behind. My bff, Sage, pats the seat next to her. I sit down and Romeo squeezes in next to me. I put my hand down on the space between us. Romeo put’s his hand on top of mine. He smiles at me. I blush under my tan. Alex sit’s next to Olivia, and all the girls around him sigh dreamily. I shake my head and start eating my salad.
By the time lunch is over, Romeo says he had to go to the library, to pick up some books for a report, and all my friends left for classes. Alex moves closer to me and sighs. “Ok, I give up, who is he? And what does he have that I don’t?!” Alex says. “Nothing, I was just showing him around” I lied. “Ivy, I know you, and I know how you look at a guy when you like him, and your face was… beautiful. And your sweet and wonderful and smart and amazing” he says, off subject. “What can one guy do to get you to look at me like that?” He asks. “Nothing. I already love you, as a friend. Your every bit a guy as Romeo, but---” Alex stops me by—kissing. I feel myself, falling in, deeper and deeper. Luckily, I figure out what I’m doing, and push him off. “I have to go” I said, jumping up, before I remember me and Alex have a class together. I sit back down. “No I don’t” I mumble. Alex is smiling, then looks down. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help myself. Ivy, you’re the greatest girl I’ve ever met, it’s hard to say no” he says. “It’s ok. I felt that way around you in 5’Th grade. I probably should have told you sooner” I said. “Really? You did?” Alex asks hopefully. I nodded. “Remember on Valentines Day? When you gave me the rose? That’s when I fell in love with you. I guess, over the years, I just forgot about it” “How do you forget? I’ve been in love with you since first grade. That’s EIGHT years” he takes my hand just as the bell rings. “We better get to class” I said, but let him hold my hand.
