• Who am I? My eyes were clouded with water. I felt the chill of the icy, metal floor that my back was pressed against. I was trapped in a small room with no doors, and no windows. No way out. The only other thing in my chamber was a moldy, worn-out oak table with termite holes. I had a horrible headache. It felt like my brain was pulsing against my skull. I had a horrible taste in my mouth; had I been poisoned? I slowly walked up to the table, looking for a place to rest. I laid my arms on it, and it broke into many pieces. Splinters were pierced into my arm. I looked at the floor, and saw a tiny piece of paper in the pile of broken wood. I pulled it out, but it was blank. I turned it over and there was a picture of a rose on it. Suddenly, I heard a silent knock. Then I heard another three knocks, louder this time. Thump, thump, thump. Now it was angry. THUMP, THUMP! I fell to the floor in shock, and noticed that the floor was now lukewarm. I noticed that a small section of the east wall was ajar. Was it a hidden door? It opened a bit more now. I grabbed the sharpest piece of wood I could find and wielded it like a sword. Funny, I don’t recall any memory of being a sword master, but then again, I can’t remember anything. Then the “door” flung open! I instinctively grabbed another chunk of wood and heaved it at the door with all my strength, boosted with adrenaline. A gust of wind blew against my face, and I saw a shadowy figure in the opening. "Who are you?" I asked. So many mysteries, and I had a feeling that I wasn't going to get any answers anytime soon.
