• Jackie Melony was an average teenager in his time. He made straight A's, even though Jackie "Jackhammer" Melony had a tendency to get into scruffs with other boys. Whether it was his own defense, or even his own sick imagination at work, winding together tragedies for his own pleasure. No one knew him that well, for he spent most of his school days secluded. But then the came the kicker. The little town Jackie lived in was one famous for many "ghost stories" in old abandoned house, and stores, etc. Jackie's father was known to go around collecting strange and unusual objects. How peculiar these objects were! Ranging from hats covered with marbles to dolls that had one leg, but three arms! One item in particular that had to be kept in Jackie's room...was an old, antique mirror. One night, during a horrible thunderstorm, Jackie sat on his bed, across from this mirror, on the phone with a cute girl Jackie apparently had a feeling or interest for. This girl was quite popular, and he felt lucky getting her number at all. But....once the cat was out of the bag that Jackie liked her, things changed. There was a demoralizing CRACK outside from his window. The bolt of concentrated electricity hit the outdoor fuse box, cutting the power. As the light from Jackie's phone glowed, the only thing he could see was the mirror in front of him. He could not see the bed he sat upon, not the things around him, not even himself, just the mirror. He gazed into the mirror with the curiosity of a newborn child. Suddenly, Jackie heard the girl say "I don't like boys who think their tough" and hung up immediately. He was stricken. As anger and hate flowed through his body, he noticed something. His phone was off but he could still see the mirror. It looked different. Like the reflection of himself.....was closer than he actually was. Only.....the reflection of him....contained no expression, and for that matter...no face at all. It's eyes were gouged out, its mouth ripped at the corner, patches of hair are missing from its head, only a hole drenching the blank face in blood where the nose should be, it was...death. Jackie stared it right in the face, and felt like..it was staring back. What blasphemy! It got worse. The creature of a Doppleganger, crawled out the mirror. Jackie was too frozen in fear to flee, or even cry for help. It made its way across the floor, leaving a trail of red, staining the white carpet. Its blank eyes stared at Jackie as if it could shatter his will in a single glance. It lept to Jackie and grabbed him by the throat. It brought its face closer and looked at Jackie. The reflection apparition simply said in an old, almost ancient, decrepit voice "No one likes the tough guy". It brought its mangled claws to Jackie's face and....he woke up. As Jackie sprang upward, he was looking straight into the mirror. But only, it wasn't the abomination of himself. It was Jackie "Jackhammer" Melony. Scared, terrified, a pure look of horror. At the end of that week, many neer-do-wells were surprised to hear that Jackie never got in a fight that week...
