• Introduction

    “Simone, Simone!”
“God blessed Irene!” Cried Simone, “what do you want?”
    “Your late for your class!”
“Irene, what do you want me to do when my class was canceled, because of bad weather!” screamed Simone.
“Well I’m sorry, I just thought you might want to wake up so I could tell you that and see if you remember.” Said Irene sharply.
As Simone scrambled out of bed, she looked around the dorm room that was themed black, pink, and yellow, and her scowled deepened. Irene was smart, and she knew when she was not wanted, so she got up and went to the lunchroom. Simone was a very shy girl, who loved dark colors, and was the exact opposite of her friend Irene, who was bubbly and joyful, Hence the pink and yellow. Simone hated the dorm room and she hated Irene, and she hated the boy who kept following her around and talking. He did not know when to shut up. Simone sighed and stood up. She decided that she might as well get the day started with, so she went over to the shower and turned on the hot water, she adjusted the water temperature and got undressed. She slipped behind the slide in glass door and heard someone come into the room. She thanked the lord that she had locked the door and continued with her shower. When she heard the doorknob jiggle, she knew it was Daniel.
“Simone, is that you in there?” asked Daniel.
“Maybe it is, and maybe it isn’t, what are you going to do about it?” taunted Simone.
She heard Daniel sigh and walk away from the bathroom door. Simone climbed out of the shower and got dressed. Then she brushed her hair, and then and only then did she turn off the water. She grabbed the umbrella that she kept in the bathroom, and grabbed her drawing bag, and stepped over to the window and unlocked it. Then she very quietly unlocked the bathroom door. She peeked out of the bathroom and saw that Daniel was sitting in a big armchair reading a magazine. She closed the door again and walked over to the window. She lifted up the screen and the glass and climbed out of the window, landing safely on the lawn. She closed the window and walked across the lawn, trying to decide when to get Daniel out of her room. She thought over every time she had to do this just so Daniel didn’t annoy her. She sighed and continued off the lawn, running towards the lunchroom. She was late again.

    You barley made it!

“Girl, where have you been today?” shouted the lunch lady, who was pretty ticked off, “you know we only serve breakfast six to ten. And you getting here five minutes till ten, I shouldn’t even let you in here!”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah, just give me my food Paige.” Said Simone who was ready to punch her. As she walked out of the lunchroom with her plate in her hand, she heard someone call her name, but she just brushed it off. She sat down at one of the outdoor tables and took out her drawing book. She flipped through it as she ate. When she was done, she stood up and turned around, and standing there was Daniel.
“God what do you want?” said Simone.
“Well you should know what I want.” Stated Daniel smartly.
“ OK you got me in a good mood, you know what I’m going to give you?”
    “What?
“I am going to give you this.” Said Simone hitting him with the plate.
“Crap you hit hard girl. You are like the devils daughter.”
“Then why do you love me Daniel?”
“I didn’t say the devils daughter wasn’t hot now did I?”
Simone turned around hotly and walked off into the pouring rain towards her dorm room. When she finally got to the door, she turned around and saw Marc standing right behind her. She almost screamed for joy.
“Marc, what are you doing here?” shouted Simone
“Why wouldn’t I come visit my best friend at her college?”
“Well come on in and get dry Hun!”
    “I really missed you Simone.”
“So what’s the latest news with the folks and girlfriend?”
“Nothing much, but I did brake-up with my girl friend and she took it pretty hard.”
“Oh well who did you leave her for?”
“One quick question though, ok, can I bunk here tonight? The roads are to icy.”
“Oh sure, no problem, so want to go and catch a movie off campus?”
“That sounds cool, so are you still single, or you finally find someone who can put up with you?”
“Nobody can put up with me like you do. So what do you want to go see? Pirates of Clasterdale, Under My Wing, or Wedding On Doomsday?”
    “How about Wedding On Doomsday?
“Cool, I’ll go and call Irene and tell her I’ll be home late.”

    Catching up

“ So what’s it like living like you do up in Kentucky?” questioned Simone as they sat at a table in the Starbucks a few blocks down from the college campus.
“It’s not very exciting, really. The most exciting things happen in Texas, ‘cause you Texans are a friendly group.” Said Marc.
“Well us friendly Texans are glad for that comment. Now why haven’t you even mentioned your girlfriend to me, ‘cause I sure as hell know that you two broke up a while ago?”
Marc was silent for some time and then he abruptly stood up and said “Well we better get going if we have to walk home.”
Simone stared at him for a while and then quickly stood up and hit him with her coffee cup. Then she walked out into the icy rain. Marc ran out the door after her and they walked home in silence.
Simone was still ticked-off at him when she got back to her dorm room. He was about to break the silence when Irene flung open the door and dragged them in there. She sent mark off to go take a shower, and by that time, Simone was already in her pajamas and asleep in her bed. Then Irene fell asleep in her bed thankfully, peacefully, and very, very, briefly.

    What happened very briefly.

That morning at three Simone woke up, and, remembering that she was still ticked at Marc got up to get some handcuffs so she could handcuff him to the couch. But half way to where the handcuffs were kept, she tripped over something lying on the kitchen floor. Simone flicked on the light and saw Daniel lying on the floor. Simone screamed at Daniel and marc and Irene came running into the kitchen.
“Daniel,” screamed Simone, “ what are you doing on my floor?”
“ Simone,” said marc urgently, “ do you want the baseball bat or the handcuffs?”
“ Neither, I have something worse in mind, now get out of my dorm room before I choose to whack you like a piñata!”
“ Ok, Ok, I’m leaving. I just wanted to see your face when you found me.”
“Well thank god he is gone.” Said Marc quickly.
Simone just shot him an evil glance and walked over to him. She hugged him and walked away. Marc just stood there puzzled, and then he tried to walk away but found out that while hugging him, Simone had handcuffed him to the table leg.
“Irene, could you help me with this?” asked Marc.
“ Sure,” said Irene, let me just get the key and unlock it.”
She walked over to the cabinet and grabbed a peculiar looking key off a rack hanging inside the cabinet door. She walked back over to Marc and unlocked him then walked back to her room. Marc sat there rubbing his wrists, but finally decided to get up and go back to sleep.
That next morning Irene was up first listening to the weather report, which just said more wind rain and ice.
“ Well that’s not a very good outlook,” said Simone sleepily, “ I guess I can kiss my classes good-bye.”
“And I know you can count on Marc staying here,” said Irene, “ but who knows, he might stay with the girl he left his girlfriend for, oh but wait, you are the girl he left his gf for.”
Simone stood there baffled, she should have known, what had come over her? She must have shown her surprise on her face because Irene quickly took this opportunity to rub it in.
“ Oh so what, are you trying to tell me that you didn’t see that. How could you not see that? Are you like, losing your charm, or am I just gaining it?”
Simone turned around and headed into the kitchen where Marc was. She stood next to him and picked up his plate.
“ What are you going to do with that?” questioned Marc with a mouthful of sausage.
Simone quickly made her move. She broke a hole in the already chipped plate and got the handcuffs. She attached one end of the handcuffs to Marc’s plate and the other end to Marc’s wrist. Then she just walked away. Marc sat there and tried to figure out what he did wrong now.

“Is that how you treat someone who likes you?”

“What was that possibly for?” ranted Marc.
“Well you know I haven’t liked anybody since Daniel. R!” said Simone.
“Wait, the other Daniel who existed even before you came here and the same Daniel who broke and mortally wounded your heart?”
“Yes Marc, that Daniel.” Said Simone who now had tears streaming down her face.
Marc quickly wrapped her in a hug and stroked her hair cooing to her, “it’ll be ok Simone, just forget about him, ok?”
Simone gently nodded her head and whispered in Marc’s ear, “ I love you Marc. I love you.”
Marc looked at her and then gently let her go.
“ The real reason I came here was because I was wondering how you felt about coming to Hawaii with me for 3 weeks?” asked Marc.
“Yes Marc, I’ll go with you.” Said Simone.
“ Well then we leave tomorrow so you better get packed.”
“ Does it have to be tomorrow?” chimed in Irene who had been listening for the last five minutes.
“Yes it has to be tomorrow,” said Marc hotly, “ and Irene, who said you were coming?”
“ Well I was just assuming that you wanted me to tag along to keep an eye on you and Simone.”
“ Well, thanks, but no thanks. We can handle ourselves. Because we’re mature adults mom.”
Irene just stared at him and then smiled sarcastically and left. Simone quickly pulled her suitcase and opened it.
“ We’re gonna' be there for three weeks, huh?” said Simone as she walked into her bathroom and emerged with three swimsuits.
“ Yeah, I guess. Oh, so um….” Stuttered Marc
“I know what you’re thinking, and no, these aren’t two piece swimsuits. I know you wish they were, but they aren’t.”
“ Darn, well I’m gonna go find our tickets. Oh, and, by the way, I have a surprise for you out in the truck. I’ll go and get it.”
“ Ok, but you better not have bought me anything to big, or I’m returning it.”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t spend anything on it.”
And with that, Marc walked out of the room to the truck.

    Lindsey
“Simone!” screamed Lindsey as she bolted through the door into Simone’s room.
“ Lindsey, how did you get here?” asked Simone as her and Lindsey hugged to welcome each other.
“ Marc brought me here and he let me bring someone special.”
“Walker!” yelled Simone as a cute ball of furriness attacked her.
“Yeah, she wouldn’t let me leave the little furrball at her house, so I paid the extra 100$ and here he is.” Said Marc, who was quickly turning bright red.
“ Ah, thanks Marc.” Said Simone as she pranced over and gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
Lindsey stood there mystified as Marc just stood there with his mouth hanging open in a big stupid grin. Simone finally got annoyed with them looking like that, gawking at her.
“Ok, so what? I can’t give Marc a friendly quick peck on the cheek? God, what is up with ya’ll?”
Simone walked out of the room with walker following right on her heels. From the other side of the hallway they heard Simone call, “and its 9:00 PM. go to sleep ya’ll!”
When she had finally gone Lindsey whipped around and gave Marc the evil eye. He just sat there and smiled.
“You know if there’s something going on in between you and her, I should know about it because…”
And that was all Marc heard, because he started thinking, “Wow, she just kissed me. I think she really likes me. This will make this vacation so much easier. But wait, what is Lindsey saying? There’s nothing going on in between me and Simone, but we are slowly becoming friends, so….”
His thoughts were interrupted by a loud scream that he had become used to hearing. It was Daniels, and Marc walked over to the window to see what he had gotten himself into this time. Lindsey was already doubled over laughing when he got there. He looked out the open window to see what had happened. What he saw made him fall over bursting with laughter. Daniel was hooked to the flagpole and was hoisted up at the top, but he didn’t have his coat on so he was being pelted by hail the size of Marcs fist. The secretary, at least that’s who Marc thought she was, was yelling at Simone to get Daniel down, then Simone started yelling back and finally it looked like Simone had made her point and the secretary was happy with it. So Simone handed the secretary a note and she walked off into the pouring rain, leaving the secretary standing where she was, looking up at Daniel, then she to walked off. And Daniel was left there screaming at every piece of hail that dared to come to close to him.
