• Laughter. It was all around. The air seemed to vibrate with it. The young girl screwed her eyes shut, clawed at her ears, begging it to stop. The laughter increased, becoming louder and more maniacal. Horrifying screams tore from the girl's fragile lips as dark figures closed in on her.

Fourteen year old Trix woke up every night, screaming. Her terrible screams brought the frantic nurses who injected her with yet another sedative. They never realized this only made it worse. The horrors that haunted her drugged sleep were fueled by the drug, it put them in a frenzy. Trix was kept in this drugged sleep. Her memory seemed almost to slip away as the timeless days slipped pass. She was forgetting who she was...........or even what she was.

Snickers echoed down the hall. "Shut up! We'll have our pases taken away if we get caught." the oldest of the tree boys shushed the twins who crouched behind him.

"Oh calm down Aker they won't catch us." one answered, grinning. "If they do, you're on your own" he added and as if to demonstrate a chocolate brown cat took his place. He was a werecat.

"Oh be quiet Jamie. Now come on." Aker, a strange 17 year old whose hair seemed to be various shades of dark blue, muttered moving quickly down the hall. With expert ease, he slipped into a restricted room. On the bed lay the young girl, straps holding her down. Forest green hair cascaded down around her shoulder.

"Whats so special about her?" Jamie, or maybe it was Tammie, spoke up behind Aker. The 16 year old twins were rambunctious trouble makers, yet they seemed to worship Aker.

"I don't know. That is what I attend to find out." Aker muttered gazing curiously at the girl. He stepped forward holding his palm out towards the straps. A small flame shot out, burning away the straps, leaving the girl unharmed. Aker was an elemental, a very special one, one who could control all elements. Even him, who was more powerful then most elementals, was allowed to roam instead of being trapped like Trix. But why would the 'doctors' keep such a harmless girl forever drugged? Who was she? More importantly, what was she?

Oakwood Mental Institution was not what they claimed to be. They were fantasy hunters, or at least that is what the 'patients' called them, who sought out the children of the many races that roamed amongst the humans. The humans had no clue, they were to wrapped up in their material existence. The supposed doctors at Oakwood kept the children drugged or in a never ending madness. Some, like Aker and the twins, were given passes, allowed to roam about the Institution. Others were drugged, though very few as badly as Trix.
