• Silver Eyes and Vampire Fangs

    Chapter 1 *Elena*

“Yeah mom, had a great time on the trip, thanks for asking.” I said while rolling my eyes and setting my backpack by the front door.

She sighed and leaned against the table in the dinning room.

“Sorry Elena, I just messed you a lot. You were gone a whole week after all, and it does get rather lonely in this house without you.”

My free spirited mother tended to be a little on the clingy side. I had just returned from the senior class trip, a trip that my mom didn’t even approve of me going on in the first place. But I couldn’t really blame her either, after dad walked out on us just a few years ago.

But what my mom wasn’t aware of was that she’d be parting ways with me sooner than she had ever expected.

How long could I stay here before people started noticing that I wasn’t aging?

I sighed and sat on the table top, staring out the window at the bright, sunny, summer day. I wanted to go out and let the sunlight warm my skin, but there were, a few complications that I had to consider…

It had happened last year, at summer camp. Even going into the 12th grade I still loved camp! There were many of my friends that went and that was the only time I got to see some of them. To me, it was like a month in paradise!
That is, until this last summer, when -unbenounced to me- I was going to camp for the last time…

    “You b***h you bit me!”

“Hey, you were the one who wanted to know.”

My friend Marie had not been herself. She was so beautiful, not that she wasn’t before but it was hard to believe that in only a year her body had changed so much. Her tan skin was creamy tan, lighter than it had been in years past. Her eyes, well that was the noticeable difference, they were silver!
I thought it was odd, she didn’t eat – claimed to be on some strange diet. She never slept anymore, in fact, I would hear her sneak out late at night, long after lights out and wander through the forest. So, one night I followed her only to have her bite me!

And now here I was, living out my last year in high school as one of the undead!

Truthfully, it was sort of my fault. I always knew that sticking my nose in other peoples business would get me in trouble one day.

I guess the thing that really bothered me was the fact that despite my being a senior in high school, I wasn’t yet finished with my schooling. I’m not referring to collage here but…vampire high school.

Silver Eyed Academy had always given me, and everyone else chills. It wasn’t the name, but the kids. There was just something wrong about them. They were so beautiful, like Marie, it wasn’t natural. Not to mention, every single one of them was loaded! Not that they needed all the money for all the fancy clothes, the people could pull off dust rags if they felt like it!

And this, strange school full of strange students who were all strangely well-off, this was where I would be learning how to become a vampire.

I didn’t get it. I mean how hard could it possibly be? You lure someone into an allay, cover their mouth and drink – simple.

Well, maybe in that context and in theory. But from I’ve been told, it’s actually more difficult than that.

I sighed and dragged my bag to my room, pouring my dirty clothes out onto my bed and sorting in a methodical manner.

Yes, I would have to somehow escape my suffocating mother. After all I had received my letter in an Ivy League Collage envelope –these vamps were good – telling me to be prepared the semester would be starting soon.

I would be living my worst night mare for six years!

Attending this creepy school full of clones!

    Great.

    I really was living hell…
