• Guardian Angel (part three)

Caroline let out an ear piercing scream when the branch cracked and immediately acted. Without bothering to change out of her pajamas she raced down the stairs, her heart racing with her. She ran into the kitchen and pulled out a three foot long first aid box. Prepared for the worst she ran out the door and saw the boy who she had just met yesterday lying on the ground, and squirming in pain.
She ran to his side dragging the first aid box with her and sat beside him. “ Where does it hurt?” she questioned hoping for nothing serious. He looked into her eyes and she nearly cried from the puppy face look he gave her. Had he never experienced pain before. Why was he not crying then? She looked into his blue eyes, now softer looking from the pain as if to find an answer. Then as if to answer her question he let out a yell of pain. She then realized her hand had wondered over to his and saw how mangled it had become. “Wait here while I get help okay.” she said as she ran away.
When she looked back the pain she saw on his seemed to be from her leaving him. Caroline ran in the living room and quickly called the police and requested an ambulance. Her mom was at work so she couldn’t get her to give them the room. Then she ran back out side to be with the boy who she couldn’t stand to be without right now. When she got back she was panting heavily from all the running and being out of shape. His pain immediately went when he saw her face and the same question that he’d asked many times he asked again. “ Are you okay?” he asked with the same concern etched across his face.
Caroline laughed a little at the question and poked him in the ribs, “I should be asking you the same question.” Then curiosity over took and she wondered to herself out loud,” What is your name?” The boy looked the other way for a second and the he lifted himself up with the other hand. The boy had the strangest look of confusion on his face as he pondered the question and then he laughed. It was a joke only he would understand so Caroline just got confused when he put out his right, good hand, to shake hers. She ,still confused ,grabbed his hand and shook.
“I’m Lohyd,” he said and then the far away sound of ambulances got louder and closer. Suddenly Lohyd let out a cry of pain as he looked down at his hand. It was big and red yet in some places white and yellow pus seeped out of the broken skin. When the loud sirens where right in the front yard we walked to greet them. When he realized that he’d have to get in one of the vans horror crept over his face. So Caroline grabbed his hand and hushed him as they walked towards the vehicle. “ Are you coming ,too.” he said more of a request then a question in a shaky cracked voice.
Caroline then stood on the tips of her toes and smiled in Lohyd face before kissing him gently on the lips. A light red like that of a tulips flower then washed over his face as he clumsily climbed into the ambulance. He even hit his hand on the floor while getting in but he couldn’t feel it. He didn’t even know where he was anymore. He was in his head playing and replaying the two seconds that had caused this sensation of pure ecstasy. Caroline climbed in the ambulance looking like in an expert in comparison to Lohyd. Out of nowhere Lohyd laid his head on Caroline’s lap and said out loud, ”She kissed me.”
