• On any other day Mikaling would be busy running around with work to do, but not today. For today is the day that she awoke with cute large cat ears on her head. When she first saw them she was understandably freaked out. But after calling her friends she learned that they we're not an accident. In fact her lovely other half cast a spell upon her so that she might hear when her beloved called for her. Although it makes wearing hats difficult she has decided that it really was a sweet thought and has come to love her new ears.
So she donned some clothes and glasses, grabbed a book and headed for the local college to find her beloved.
On the way she heard, with the aid of her new ears, the tinking sounds of tiny bells. She took a chance to see what was making the noise and stepped off the cement path that was heading to the school.
Following the tiny noise into the woods which began to grow thicker and thicker around her, she climbed over mossy rocks and around large ancient trees. She pushed through blue berry bushes and avoided devils club as much as possible. She walked for a long time and was beginning to feel like giving up. Her stomach was hurting her, since she forgot to eat breakfast, being distracted by the ears and all, she felt her head grow light and dizzy.
Suddenly she tripped over a large root that she hadn't noticed. Her book went flying into the bushes and it took everything Mikaling had not to fall face first into the earth. Landing on her side she laid there for a moment. "Wow.......... ouch!" Looking down she noticed wet clumps of earth stuck to her left side and a large scrape on her knee. "My dress!" She stood and began removing the sodden ground from her garment. Using all kinds of foul language she began to grow louder making it impossible for anything to miss her presence. "I should know better then this! I'm an Alaskan girl. $^&*%! *^@$%!"
She stopped to check out her knee when she heard the tiny bells tinking loudly just to her right. Looking slowly over her shoulder she discovered a tiny blue ball of light hovering next to her apparently laughing at her. "What are you laughing at?!" She reached out in frustration to swat down the glowing annoyance. But instead of flying away the ball just laughed its tinking little laugh and avoided her fists.
Throwing her hands up in frustration Mikaling finally gave up and started looking for her book. "It's got to be around here somewhere." She pushed into the blueberry bushes to find her book in similar shape to herself, covered in dirt. "Ugh!" She stood to clean off her book and decided now was a good time to head back to the school. But when she started to walk again she noticed that now she was very much lost without a compass. Her cell phone had no reception, as usual, and she began to worry that she wouldn't be able to get back.
She turned and glared at the pixie. "This is all your fault! If it hadn't've been for you!" Mikaling flopped down on the very root that tripped her up and began to cry. "I'm so sorry pixie. This isn't your fault. I'm just scared. How do I get home now?" She put her face into her hands and sobbed. She then felt a tug on one of her new ears. She looked up to see the pixie grabbing her sleeve and tugging on her. "What? Do you know the way?"
With frantic bell sounds the pixie bounced up and down and began tugging on her sleeve again.
"Alright. Alright! I got the point." Mikaling followed her tiny guide around more trees, through more blueberry bushes and avoided large gorges in the landscape. After a short time she began to hear the familiar noise of cars on the Backloop Highway. "You did it!" She exclaimed as she burst through the last of the trees to stand on the sidewalk. "Oh thank you tiny pixie! I really must continue on my way to the school. You can join me if you want. I'll even buy you lunch." The pixie responded by tinking in a high pitch and landed on Mikaling's shoulder.
Smiling at her new comrade Mikaling resumed her trek to the school.
Shaking her head Mikaling looked over the events of her morning. "This is definitely not a normal day. Yuatja will not believe the morning I've had." She laughed again as she thought of the reaction of the college students when she finally walks into the lunch room, with cat ears on her head, dirt on her side, a cut on her leg and a pixie on her shoulder. "A non normal day for a non normal person."

(note from Mikaling: "I hope you enjoyed my first submission. Not perfect at all but I wasn't going for perfect, just to have fun. You can leave me comments if you would like. Have a good day and remember.... it could always be worse. *wink*)
