• When Amy woke up she was on a blood red velvet bed in a black painted room that was so dark it looked like a cave.
“Where am I?” she said to herself.
Getting up, she began around look around the room. She found a bedside table, a vanity, a closet filled with clothes, and a door. Amy tried the door and found it locked. Looking around some more she found another door that led to a bathroom.
To the left was a sink and counter; while at the right there was a shower, tub, and the toilet straight ahead. Grabbing some clothes from the closet, she took a shower and changed.
When she walked out there was a note next to a tray of food. Grabbing the note she picked up an apple and started eating.
    The note said:
I see you found the bathroom. You can wear my clothes if you want. I brought some food and will be back in half an hour. I highly suggest you stay in here. The rest of us might hurt you. Or not, the choice is yours.
    Signed, Shadow
What does he mean by ‘the rest of us’, she thought taking another bite of apple.
After she finished eating she checked the room over again making sure she didn’t miss anything. Growing bored, she checked the door again. Surprisingly, it opened leaving her free to wander the house as she pleased.
Cautiously she stuck her head out to see if anyone was coming. There wasn’t, so she started to follow the hallway.
When she came to the first corner she saw someone coming and ducked in a room. After a few minutes she stepped into the hall again. She looked to the left and was tapped on the shoulder from behind. She turned to face a young woman of about 18.
“What the hell are you doing here? You are not supposed to be here!”
“I, I Shadow, he brought me. I was trying to get out. Please don’t hurt me.” She said remembering the warning from the note, “I meant no harm. I just want to get home.”
Let me go find Donovan and see what he thinks about this. Follow me.” Amy did as she was told and followed.
They rounded a few corners, went down a flight of stairs and down a couple more halls to stop at a huge library. There were two guys sitting at a table, one was reading a book, while the other was writing something on a pad of paper. The guy with the notebook looked up when they entered.
“Hey Rynn, what’s up?” He looked over to Amy, who hid behind Rynn when he met her gaze. “And what is a human doing in our house? When we moved here Damien and I made sure that our house was well hidden.”
“That’s what I wanted to know. I found her roaming the halls upstairs.” Rynn answered. Donovan got up, pushed Rynn aside and pinned Amy against a wall by her throat. His eyes turned red.
“Are there any others? Tell me!”
“No, no I’m the only one. Please, you’re hurting me.”
“How’d you get in here?” She tried to kick him, but that only made him hold on tighter.
“Shadow forced me to come here. He was stalking me and found me in the park. I’ll gladly leave,” she pleaded, “I won’t tell anyone you’re here.”
“No, you cannot leave. I don’t trust you for that. Shadow will have to take care of you, or,” he paused thinking, “Or I could just kill you.” He smirked. “What do you think Damien? Should I kill her or should I let her live?” The guy called Damien looked up from his book.
“I think that we should let her live, but calm down Donovan. You’re scaring her. Besides, she’s just a mere human. She can’t hurt us.” Damien grabbed Donovan’s shoulder and Amy felt the grip on her shoulder relax. She fell to the floor gasping for air.
“No, she can’t but I still don’t like it when food just shows up into our house, especially food that can tell that we exist!”
“Food, what do you mean by food? I am not food!” Donovan pinned her up against the wall again.
“Let me show you.” He was about to bite her neck when Damien stopped him.
“Donovan, stop, let me do it. You have Rynn, and I know how you get.”
“Fine, you have her. Just know that in reality she’s Shadows. If you do anything to her, you’ll be the one to face him and not me.” He turned to Rynn, “Let’s go, I don’t want to see Shadow when he finds her.” They left and Damien walked over to her and stared into her eyes, as if waiting for something.
“Now that you’re staying with Shadow it’ll be hard not to associate you with food.”
“You’re calling me food again. I don’t like it.”
“Then let me do this. Afterward I promise I won’t do anything to you again. I’ll even help you get out of here; I just need to get this out of my system.” She was pinned against the wall again and Damien moved her hair to reveal her pale neck.
“What are you doing?” She said worried.
“Please don’t scream.” She squeezed her eyes shut.
Instantly a line of fire seared her neck and she screamed out in pain. A few seconds later her knees grew weak. She opened her eyes to find her vision so blurry she passed out.

God I hated to do that to her, he thought. He bent down to pick her up. Standing, he turned to find Shadow watching him, fists clenched.
“I heard the scream. What did you do to her?” He took her from him when he didn’t answer. “She’s mine Damien. I don’t want you to touch her again.” He started walking away.
“As if you aren’t going to hurt her,” he called. Shadow turned around. “I’ve seen you with girls before, you use them to please yourself and when you’re done with them, you kill them. Trust me, the screams get annoying after awhile.”
“And you’re any different?” He flinched when Damien’s eyes grew dark red with anger.
“I use them for food; it’s a way to hunt. The least you could do is give them to the three of us to eat.”
“Why is Amy so different from all the others?”
“Is that her name? It’s pretty, I like it.’
“You’re avoiding the question, Damien. I ask you again, why is she so different?” He sighed, thinking the answer so obvious.
“I never met any of them. They were never brave enough to defy you.” He chuckled. “I think you may have found someone too strong willed for you. She might not be as easy to break as the others.” He teased.
He started walking out and saw a ball of black fire fly past him and dissipate as it hit a wall. Turning around he saw Shadow had another in his right hand and Amy over his other shoulder, still passed out.
“Don’t even joke about that. I can take care of her myself. If you think that you can get her from me, think again. I found her, I keep her.” He teleported out of the library, probably to his room. Damien walked out looking for Rynn and Donovan.
