• My eyes flutter open what seems only minutes later, Calen still clinging to me like a child without a security blanket. Slowly reaching up, I touch my neck and find that his shirt is still pressed onto the wound. A soft smile crosses my lips as I gaze on his peaceful face, his hair splayed on the pillow and his fingers curled gracefully around me.
Cautiously, I reach over and stoke his thick, silken hair and trace his jaw lightly with my fingers. His eyes flitter slightly, but remain closed as I pull my hand away and slip it back onto his chest and nestle my head under his chin. My eyes again grow heavy and begin to close once more as he sifts a little, unknowingly placing hid lips on my head, his soft breath stirring my hair.
“Mistress,” Pollie’s voice sounds softly, “is Master Calen still in here?”
    “He is,” I answer tiredly.
    “Did he fall asleep?”
“He did,” I answer in a yawn, “Of course I fell asleep first.”
She smiles and leaves. “Sorry to have disturbed you.” Calen again shifts and his embrace grows snug as his arms reposition themselves around me.
“Sorry to wake you,” I whisper to his chest.
“It’s alright,” he yawns. “Did you rest well?”
    “I did, and you?”
“Very well knowing you are here with me again,” his breath stirs my hair once more and his arms tighten around me again, to show how he felt. We lay on the silky bed as we each sort through our thoughts on numerous things. “Teresa.”
    “Yes, Calen?”
“When do you want to be joined together?”
“The next new moon in winter,” I say my favorite date off the top of my head, knowing it was a month and a half away.
“Your favorite day, a day almost as beautiful as you,” my face burns at his words; words that I knew he would never throw away for another.
“When were you thinking?” I ask curiously. He once again nuzzles his chin on my head and pauses for a second before answering.
“I was thinking about St. Hallows Eve, a very festive day that the humans praise us.”
“Festive indeed but which appeals to you more?”
“Why don’t we wait to discuss this subject?” he yawns again.
“You brought it up,” he laughs tiredly and his breathing becoming more relaxed and rhythmic as he slips back into sleep. My eyes finally close yet again, but no sleep comes as my mind works over time trying to neatly file away all of the new information that was thrown my way in the past two days; I’m a vampire, I’m engaged, and I love someone else.
